I had such high hopes for this place, since the area is in such desperate need of a good Mexican restaurant, unfortunately this place is not it. Food was bland and uninspired. Maragarita's were disappointing. The Presidente margarita was just OK. The Huerto signature had such an off-putting, metallic flavor that it made me paranoid that maybe my mouth was bleeding (it was not)! It was just so bad. Sent it back for another Presidente. I order a LOT of food when trying a new Mexican place for the first time, to make a fair assessment. Started with the guacamole. Bland!! Then Hubby and I each got "build your own 3 item combos" each with 3 different things, so I tried those 6 menu items (Tamale, Tostada, Taco, Enchilada, Burrito, Flauta) PLUS an ala carte Chile Relleno. None of it was good at all. It reminded me of mexican day at a school cafeteria. Bland unseasoned beef, bland overly thick refried beans, flavorless cheese, etc. The food is bland to the point that hot sauce just can not fix. Very disappointed, especially with an 80+ dollar bill. In summary, the decor is beautiful, the servers are attentive, but the food and drinks are just NOT good. Great concept but horrible execution.

Like so many others around this area, I was excited to finally get a Mexican restaurant. The vibe and the bar area were pretty cool. After that, it went down hill. Menu was odd with fish and chips and ribs but the the Mexican entrees were all very standard...nothing unique. The guacamole seemed to be made with fresh avocados but was totally flavorless. The steak fajitas were made with awful meat and seasoning that cried anything but Mexican. Fajitas aren't difficult and the meat should be the star. The carne asada was dry and the tortillas dominated.....Like getting a very thin burger with a huge bun. The waiter asked if I was too full to finish my food....no, it just want worth eating. For 15 years I've only gone to Mexican Village section in downtown Detroit for quality Mexican food. I was hoping to find a good place in the suburbs. Oh well...I will still be making the drive to the D when I crave Mexican.

Decided to visit Huertos Tequila Bar & Grill. Upon entering I very surprised at how crowded the large restaurant was for a Tuesday night. I was warmly greeted by the hostess - who sat me after only a couple minute wait. The menu has lots of variety. I had the Huertos Chimichanga. The meal had the right amount of spice and the portions were terrific. The dinner salad was crisp & fresh. Chips and salsa were plentiful. Service was terrific - food was served within the right time frame and table was cleared timely. Our table was visited by members of the staff on a number of occasions. Great experience. I will be back.

So I don't typically write reviews but am because Huertos has just opened and I have already been there 5 times. I live and work in the area and am so glad we finally have a Mexican restaurant in the area, and one that's great on top of it. The apps are all to die for. My favorites include the Flautas, Botanas, Buffalo Shrimp (OMG UNREAL), and even there chicken wings are awesome. For main course I highly recommend the Mexican Pizza and or the chimichanga.I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu soon. -Chris Hindo

Had dinner here, in a party of 7, on a Friday night. We arrived at 7pm, hoping to get a table for 7:30ish because they do not take reservations. The bar area was very crowded with people waiting to get a bite to eat. Our "bartender" couldn't make more than 1 drink at a time, so we ended up crowding the bar up awaiting our drinks to be taken care of. We were able to get to our table in a decent amount of time and were "greeted" by our server. (Not naming names) Who then took a drink order from us. My wife ordered a margarita, but was not asked if she wanted it blended or on the rocks. It arrived blended, oh well. The server would then take off, and come back 10 minutes later to take an appetizer order. With only 2 items being ordered as an appetizer, we were prepared to put our order in, but "Alakazam" the server was gone before we could request to order our food. Once our guacamole appetizer arrived, we did not have anything to eat it with. Nor could we find our server to request more tortilla chips. The server decided it would be best to take our dinner order after the appetizers were finished. I had the Chicken Rancheros, which is served with Rice and Beans and a Salad. Others at my table had some food allergies and requested an allergy menu, of which one was not available, and the table was assured that their food would be safe. (Not normally an acceptable answer when someone has an allergy) My friend's pre-dinner salads arrived, however, mine did not. I did not know if perhaps mine would be smaller, or they ordered something different, so I did not mention anything. When the meal arrived, I asked if I could have my salad in place of a dessert, and the server response was "yea sure". Ok, great I thought to myself. Well that didn't happen either.... our friends ordered desserts, and my salad had not arrived. I apologized to the server, and asked if I might be able to have my salad, to which I was given a very poor look and demeanor and a prompt "Yes" answer. At this point, my friends also had become disappointed in the service they were receiving, and had decided to walk up to speak with a manager to detail some of the issues that our table was having. The manager then looked to speak with the server, and come back to us to inform us that they would be giving us the desserts at no charge, (of which 3 out of 7 people ordered). We did NOT see the server again for the rest of the evening. The manager brought us our checks (split checks) and come to find out, all of the desserts were not only still on the bill, but they were on my bill. Oddly enough, I did not order dessert. We then had to speak with a different manager to get that taken care of. All in all, we were at the establishment for about 4 hours for dinner. Food Quality: not half bad. didn't think anything special Service: beyond negative quality. The reason we will never go back and will tell anyone I can find not to go here.

First time visit to this new location. I had heard good things and wanted to check it out. The buzz is right... This place is fantastic! The chips are light and crispy, not oily, and the salsa is very good... Ask for the salsa verde with the chips also... They are happy to bring it and it is great! I tried the skinny margarita and it was also great... Fresh and light! I had two! I had the carnitas and my friend had the steak fajitas.... Both were fantastic and more than enough food. I will definitely be back! The bartender Chelsea was friendly, knowledgeable and a lot of fun! The owner came up and spoke to us and seemed genuinely interested in our opinion. I think this place is a winner!

We were happy to see a new Mexican restaurant located closer to home than we usually find this cuisine. After one false start (not their fault - we came on the night of their pre- opening party), we came back with another couple - plus their son- about a week later. First, and most important: the food. In general, while Huerto doesn't offer much beyond the usual Norteamericano Mexican fare (tacos, tortillas, enchiladas, etc.), what was on the menu was well prepared. Where it fell seriously short of the mark was in the service. Our server seemed incapable of either writing down our party's orders, or remembering them. One of us ordered a dinner salad with chicken and avocado. It arrived sans chicken, and sans avocado. Our dining companion's husband corrected the situation by ordering a chicken fajita for her, so she could get some protein . No offer was made to adjust the bill. Nor did anyone apologize. 2 of us had to ask at least twice for the side salads that came with our dinners. My husband ordered chicken fajitas. The server came out and told him the kitchen had made beef fajitas by mistake, and he had to wait while they prepared what he had ordered. Then, when his order arrived, there was not enough chicken for the 4 tortillas that came with it. This is an attractive restaurant, and the staff is friendly enough. Unless the service and preparation improve, however, we will not exactly rush to return.

A great atmosphere, good service and delicious food! Met a large group of friends here and we had a great time. Our waiter was great with accommodating our large group even though we all needed separate checks. The food was very good, lots of flavor (not sure what others are complaining about). The drinks were wonderful, everyone was very happy with their margaritas. I will definitely be back again.

Amazing chips and salsa. Amazing skinny margaritas (although extremely watered down bc I couldn't feel anything after two). Guac was just ok. The chicken rice soup is mouthwatering. My carne asada burrito platter was delish. The mexican rice was well seasoned. My friend's chicken ranchero dish looked so appetizing as did my other friend's fish taco. I love the decor except for The random bison head on the wall. Ambience is great. Appreciated the owner coming by the tables to check on everyone. I can't wait to come back to this place. This place was so packed on a wed night. But we were lucky to get a table for six right away.

I was so happy Huerto's opened in our neighborhood but am not expecting it to be here for very long. The decor and atmosphere is great but the food lacks flavor. I cannot even say this is a mediocre Mexican restaurant, it is worst than that. Not only are there no prices on any of the drinks on the menu, the waiter told us he didn't really know the prices because they "change all the time"!. Overall, almost everything we ordered lacked flavor. My husband gave the chili a 7/10 and was quite spicy. The compliementary salsa is boring. The carnitas and al pastor tacos are the worst we've ever had - hard pieces of sliced pork in greasy corn torillas with no flavor. The chicken enchilada was also flavorless with a pasty sauce on top. The shredded beef tostada had nice texture, but again, flavorless. The refried beans tasted like nothing. I can't believe anyone running this place or in the kitchen is Mexican or has any background in preparing (or tasting?) food. Even good restaurants in this space have failed so unless there is a total redo of the food, this one is toast for sure!

were the first customers on a sunday, getting near 1 pm. hum... lots of usual items, but a couple new ideas; so i thought i should try those since i can get the usual just about anywhere. i got the Chile Verde Con Queso, said it was a casserole. well is was a boiled potato sliced and lined down the middle of a plate. topped with cheese, then diced green chiles and sauted mushrooms then heated until the cheese melted, along with rice and beans. didn't really take must effort or imagination to not actually cook this dish. it was bland and there was no salt/pepper on the table. Rice had some flavor and the beans were OK. friend got the usual one enchilada with rice and beans combo. average, nothing special. their chips and salsa were good; salsa with a little kick. the oddity was that there were offered chili, chik rice soup or salad as a starter with the meals. so with the chips/salsa and salad which we chose, we were about full before the main dish came. did pick up a takeout menu on way out and the prices were way less than we paid. don't know if we got sunday or dinner prices or whether the takeout menu was old and out of date. makes one wonder tho. so with the somewhat steep prices of the con queso being $12 for a boiled potato and the combo being $9 it will make me stop and think, then conclude i probably will not return. this place is obviously an american mexican place with several american diner options. had to ask for sweetener also for ice tea, so be prepared to beg.

I live just about a mile away from this place, and I have been waiting for a Mexican restaurant to open. I was sooo excited when they finally opened their doors! The food was fantastic! I ordered the Huerto Chimichanga and it was absolutly delicous!! The reason I'm leaving four stars instead of five is because the wait was a bit too long, understanding that it is a new restaurant everyone wants to try it out so the wait will be long for awhile but totally worth it! My waiter was awesome and the owner walked by our table and introduced himself! It was a great experience and I definiatly recomand it!!

Yelp deleted my first review of this site, maybe because it was positive? My wife and I have been to Huerto twice for lunch and twice for dinner. She enjoys the quesadillas and I've enjoyed the flautas, the burrito bowl and the fajitas. Each time we have gone we have had great service and excellent food. We prefer to eat in the bar area where there are plenty of flat screen tvs, lots of fun people and the bartenders (especially Heather) are attentive and fun. We look forward to lots of fun times there.

The food was okay the first couple of times. The service has always been very slow and the waitstaff is not very friendly, at least they haven't been when I'm there. I prefer fish tacos on corn tortillas, not flour. The salsa tastes a little like spaghetti sauce. It needs to be made fresh daily to taste authentic and use only fresh tomatoes and well cleaned cilantro to give it that traditional fresh taste. The Ceviche is lacking in lime juice and spiciness. I was really looking forward to good Mexican near our home but I am disappointed. I love to cook and I'm Latin American so I guess I'm picky. I feel the food is bland and lacking in authentic taste. The last time we ordered take out on a Sunday I got stale hard rice and brown guacamole, which is a Latin NO-NO. Latinos know their rice, so you cannot pass off yesterdays rice and Guacamole on us. A pretty place, great location that can really shine with a few tweaks. Good food that is fresh and tasty takes a little effort but it pays off. I was anxious to spread the word to my Latin friends, but now, not so much...

If you're looking for a hip, delicious place to enjoy a perfect margarita, this is the place to go. Every time I have been to this restaurant, the service has been impeccable. Mindful of my two young sons I always have in tow, (except the time I had that marvelous margarita I mentioned!) Heurto always makes all three of us feel welcomed. They even know my oldest son's order by heart and it always comes out just the way he likes it! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fresh, moderately-priced meal to share with family or friends :D

After following this place for months via Facebook, I was pretty excited that they finally opened up! We went on a Monday night and it was PACKED- I mean, I did get there right around 6:30 but it was insanely busy. I was meeting two friends there and they, of course, were running late so I put our name in and was informed it was a 45 minute to an hour wait. That was a-okay with me since 1. They have a bar and 2. My friends were running late anyways. So I weaved my way to the bar and waited patiently to make eye contact with the bartender. It took quite awhile for him to get to me, but once he did I ordered the House Margarita. It was really good! Since the bar was packed and it looked like no one was leaving anytime soon, I took my drink back towards the door to find a seat. Finally a group got up and I snatched my seat. The ambiance was cool, pretty urban feeling but I feel like they need more seats for those waiting. All there were was 2, maybe 3, seats and a bench. After about 35 minutes, they took me to the table were I was still waiting for my friends. I was immediately greeted and given chips and salsa. They were really good. When my friends FINALLY arrived, we got an app of guac and the ceviche. I thought both were excellent and my friends were in agreement. They also thought the house margarita was really good. For my entree, I ordered the chimichanga and someone else ordered the tacos. The chimi was excellent... came with rice and beans. I was so full from all the chips and the apps that I was only able to eat half of it. But not to worry yelpers! I was given a box and it tasted equally as delish the next day- which to me, is a sign of quality food. But that may just be me! I just found out (via their Facebook page) that they now do call aheads for groups of 6 or more- so I would def do that since they're still new. Overall, really good service and food. I'll for sure be going back once the newness of the place wears down and there's not a huge wait.

I am pretty shocked this place has such low ratings. It's why I didn't try it out sooner. Boy do I regret it! I went on a Friday afternoon right at lunch time and even though the parking lot was full, the place is so big we were immediately given a table. The ambience is super nice , very fresh and hip vibe to it. Our server was fantastic. I have no idea how but literally every moment my coke was done she would show up out of nowhere and give me a new glass. The food was beyond fantastic. No lard! That's the hardest part of finding a good Mexican restaurant!!! And the vegetables were super fresh. The portions were huge, especially considering it was their lunch menu. My friend and I were hardly able to finish everything. I am definitely frequenting this place more often.

I was hoping that this place would have gotten it together since our first experience but it's the same. The menu is great and offers a wide variety. The food is average... Not bad, not amazing. The service is awful!! Both times we went, it took over an hour to get our food. Our server never refilled our drinks and we had to ask the non English speaking bus boy for more chips. The restaurant wasn't busy so I have no idea why the service is consistently slow. I believe it's a combination of both the kitchen and blonde waitresses. Unless you are looking to eat lots of chips while you wait, go to Mex!

This place was a pleasant surprise! I never expect much from so called "Mexican" restaurants in Michigan, and the food here is pretty pedestrian - mostly tacos and chimichanga type stuff-but the food was fresh and delicious for that style of cooking. The cocktails were delicious, but a bit slow coming out of the bar. The food was well timed and our server was delightful. The manager greeted and checked on our experience. The decor is terrific. Huerto is not the more elevated Mexican dining experience I keep hoping for, with fresh ceviches and house made mole. Instead they round out the menu with hamburgers and a club sandwich. I don't get that at all. Be more ambitious with the Mexican cuisine! Huerto is a good place to get a botana plate, some tacos al pastor and a refreshing tequila cocktail. I'll take it for now, and hope they keep stepping up their game.

Decided on a whim to dine here on Saturday at 6pm. The wait was projected to be 45-50 min, but additional seating opened up and we were seated within 5minutes, and immediately happy with the chips and salsa and beverages. Admittedly, the salsa needs to be spruced up regarding quantity and flavor...but it still satisfied. The chips are light and crispy-very satisfying. The guac was basic and good. As for the meal, the burritos were solid, good. The fish tacos need NOT to be beer battered, and then they would be great! The shrimp fajitas sizzled and delivered on flavor. We would definitely go back and we hope that some slight flavor improvements will be made. Huerto is a welcome addition to the restaurants in that area.

Had lunch here on a Friday at noon so it was moderately busy. Service was very good / attentive, and the prices were very reasonable for the generous serving size. But the food was just mediocre. As one reviewer pointed out, the salsa tastes like tomato sauce: very plain. I ordered the chimichanga. It was stuffed with shredded chicken and beef but it was dry. However my sister had the buffalo shrimp taco and loved it.

Went there with 2 other buddies on a Thursday evening. Place was packed. We each ordered their "Huerto margaritas" which weren't bad. We sat by the bar and they also give you chips and salsa. Nothing special quality-wise but not bad. We ordered some tacos. Price is a bit on the high side since it's supposed to be a higher end restaurant. They were OK, nothing to rave about. I think it was like $8 or so for a taco! I have no idea why it says $3.49 on their website. But the worst thing was they had two guys playing live music on the corner. The music was good but too damn loud! We couldn't talk. Mind you this is a restaurant with a bar, not a club!

This place is really vegetarian friendly. I'd highly suggest getting their mexican pizza. If you're vegetarian get it with the veggies, despite my vegetarian status I am not a huge vegetable lover. They do something really special with their veggies here that make them taste tangy but awesome. The nachos are also pretty good. We ordered some mojitos which were weak but tasty. Honestly, when I've had a rough day at work, their patio, a few drinks, and a mexican pizza can reverse the whole day. Definitely try it out! Side note: I've also come here for a bridal shower. The food was just as good! :)

I have dined here twice and the food is pretty good. The tacos, red rice, and flautas are very delicious and tasteful. The daiquiris are also very good. Love the atmosphere and decor. The only complaint is the food does not come out hot, it is just room temperature. The first time I did not bother to complain because I figured it is a new restaurant so would cut them some slack but the second time I returned (a few months later) and I had the same problem but didn't feel like complaining. Hopefully that issue is resolved.

So, here is my update after our bad experience the first time. I am now convinced this place is going to be a winner. Just tell the hostess to greet their guests and not to only throw the two words "How many?" to the customers. We were seated next to the fireplace. It was nice, cozy and warm. Our waiter introduced himself and gave us all his attention for our orders. The drinking menu is amazing - a huge selection of Margaritas, an even bigger selection of Tequilas, Mezcals and other liquor. I was thirsty, so I decided to take a draft beer, because they have the "Breakfast Stout" on tap. And of course there is a decent selection of other beers on tap and bottles as well. For our food we were starting with the Filet Bites. These are juicy Cajun tenderloin bites, cooked in special sauce with Serrano peppers, onion and cilantro. That is something to die for. What a great dish perfectly cooked and made of high quality ingredients. That will be my absolute favorite here and I almost can not wait to come back and eat it again. Our entrees were a Burrito, a Taco and Fajitas. The dishes came and everything looked great. I found tons of onions and a lot of meat on my sizzling plate - exactly how I love it. The taste was excellent, the meat quality perfect, everything on the table was making us happy and we enjoyed it. After we finished our entrees we needed some minutes to decide having a dessert. We shared the Mud Pie. This is made of layered gourmet chocolate, coffee and rocky road ice creams, topped with rich chocolate syrup in a crunchy Oreo cookie crust. That was a good finish. We paired it with one Tequila Anejo on the side. After this visit we are sure to come back more often.

I was there last night. We ate dinner and had A few glasses of wine in cheap wine glasses. Unfortunately the food is less then avg and so was the service. I was hoping to enjoy the atmosphere but unfortunately i felt like i was still at Big daddys. The chairs were very uncomfortable. I had to ask for the waiter 3 different times for service. I am a wb resident and it would be great if this place makes it but they have lots of work to do still.

We were glad we did. This is the great go-to Mexican restaurant for us and the margaritas are great as well. We have been back several times when we're in the area as well!

I came here with my Wife and two kids for dinner. We asked to sit outside (70 degrees and overcast) but they said that the patio was closed. Weird; there was a table sitting out there at the time. Do you have a booth? "No"... ooooook. "Right this way"; and we were led to a table for 5. Not the best foot to start off on, it's ok to talk to your customers and make them feel welcome... We ordered the chicken flautas appetizer and it was very good. The kids didn't like it, which was great, because my Wife and I loved it. I had the steak fajitas and my wife did a make your own combo. The food was slightly better than your 'run-of-the-mill' mexican restaurants; but nothing spectacular. I will mention that the ambiance is quite nice, but the food doesn't quite match. When you present a trendy, up-scale setting, you sort of expect something more out of the food. When you get the same old beans / cheese / rice that you can get at any mexican restaurant across the country, it's slightly disappointing. We did get out of there with only a mid $40s bill; and we ate another meal off the leftovers. So for that; 3-stars.

First of all, there are NO Happy Hour Specials allowed outside and or indoors unless you're at the "BAR" area. There is a 1.5" note to the side of the specials board excluding specials. :( Waiter we had was a space cadet, the bus boy was more attentive to all of the customers than he was. Shredded beef in their chimichanga is more like a pot roast. Maybe this place is more suited for the over 60 crowd

Went here last night for dinner. Started with the fresh start cocktail. It's a tequila based cocktail. Was so so didn't have that much flavor but the fresh mint was a nice touch. Free chips and salsa was okay. Salsa was a little watered down and again not much flavor. Fish taco had fried fish, kinda wish it wasn't fried. The cabbage on top and sauce was great. Got a side of guacamole and added it to my taco. Only came with one but it was a pretty big size.

Worst Mexican restaurant ever. Service is horrible and food is disgusting. I have given this place multiple chances to no avail. Taco Bell is better than this place, save your money and go elsewhere!

At first I thought this was one of those "it's just another Mexican restaurant" places, but as soon as I started eating Huerto's chips and salsa, I knew I was there for a good time! Went with my husband for dinner on a Thursday evening - dined inside. Chips were a perfect hybrid of tortilla and pita chips. Something like what's good served with spinach and artichoke dip. Chips were perfectly salted and crunchy to the bite. Salsa was not chunky, it was more saucey, but still packed with flavor including my favorite, cilantro! It's easy to determine the salsa includes a great variety of chili flavors and smokiness. I ordered a skinny margarita which was DELICIOUS - it had a sweet-citrus flavor which I LOVE and not many restaurants in Metro Detroit offer this. Reminded me of Mexico. We ordered one appetizer, the guacamole. It was a decent size for $7.99 (remember, guacamole is expensive anywhere you go) and wasn't as good as mine, but still yummy! At least I could taste a decent amount of lime. For my dinner, I ordered shredded beef quesadillas with no sour cream. This was one of the best quesadillas I've ever had! They grilled it perfect (I could also taste a smidgen of butter which I love) and the beef had such great flavor and juiciness...quesadillas were topped with green onion, diced tomatoes and shredded Oaxacan cheese. They also came with a side of guacamole. This was one of those meals that I was sad it was over. My only single complaint is the service. We were seated immediately and the hostess was pleasant, but our server took about five minutes to come to our table and ask for our drink order. Our server did not make us feel welcome and did not smile for one second. She was dry and clearly did not care about her job. Regardless of the service, the margarita and food is more than enough to bring me back - can't wait to try a tequila flight next time!

Apparently there is a trend of Mexican fusion restaurants popping up and this is one of the latest. While the inside looks nice, that will probably be the most you'll enjoy. It's new, it's trendy, I get it. However, I'm there for the food. I want to enjoy it. I did get food, but enjoying it wasn't going to happen today. I was very unimpressed with their Ceviche. It was supposed to have shrimp and scallops with lime juice tossed with diced onions, cucumbers, tomato, cilantro and a touch of hot sauce, then topped with avocados and served with tortilla chips. It did have everything listed except for the shrimp and scallops. To be fair, it did have it, although there definitely wasn't enough. It's chopped into such small bits, you barely get any. What it did have plenty of, is heat. Be aware, it's spicy and has a kick! One person in our party couldn't eat it after their first bite. I then tried their chicken taco salad. It's huge, it'll easily feed two. It was ok. That's it, ok. The chicken was fine, but nothing to remember. I had to go look back at the picture to help me. I suppose if I were really hungry and had to eat something, it would be fine, just not my first choice. Who doesn't like fried dough, so the shell was good. However, the rice was supposed to have flavor right? If it was, they may have forgotten to add any flavor. I had higher expectations, but maybe they'll get better as time goes buy and adjust their food.

I am giving this place 4 stars for 2 reasons. First is that the hostess seemed very confused as to where to seat us (party of 4) when there were tables everywhere. We ended up sitting in the bar at a table and she seemed really stressed about that as well. Not a great start. The second is that everyone at my table got their food and the portions were huge. I got mine (crispy shredded beef taco and chile relleno) with beans and rice, which were rec. by the server. Weakest taco and Chile I have ever seen. The taco was about 2 bites and the chile was pressed flat like a pancake with no filling. It was actually weird. The drinks were awesome. We had fresh squeezed margaritas and they were perfect. The fresh guacamole was also really good. The service was good. Even though my food fell flat, the flavors were really good. Everyone enjoyed this place.

Terrible event management experience. I have never experienced this lack of service and negligence for a 80 person event ever. It began fine with a decent planner, Jenny, but she left and our whole event went to shit. Here are the details: Food: 1. For buffet catering and they under served us by about 40 people - in the middle of running out of food, they were arguing about the portion size instead of just making more food and making it a smooth event. 2. They started with just 1 bowl of guacamole for 80 ppl and didn't bring out more for 30 minutes!!! They didn't have anything prepped for this event and pretty much just showed up! 3. We had half of our party as vegetarian and they MIXED the chicken and cheese enchiladas in one tray so people had no idea what they were getting! This is just plain negligent and culturally insensitive! Service: 1. We were supposed to have 4 servers (which is probably just enough for 80 people) walking around the event asking if people wanted soda, tea and coffee and 1 bartender. Instead 3 servers showed up, no bartender, didn't walk around at all and in fact had to seek them out each other.

I knew as soon as I walked in that I would be disappointed since there were absolutely no mexican people working there, but we had just left my daughters dance competition and we needed something. We played it safe( we thought) and got queso, Huerto fries, and bean dip. The queso was like my Kentucky cousins velveeta and rotel diced chilis dip that he makes in his crockpot. Definitely NOT queso. Yuck. The fries had the same velveeta dip on them, double yuck, and the bean dip was not anything close to resembling authentic mexican fare except for the cast iron they served it in. Save your money, you'll make better food at home. DISGUSTING. The service was also VERY slow...... PS..........make sure you go to the bottom of the page and read ALL the reviews, if I had seen the rest of these reviews I would have starved on the hour drive home instead of stopping there.

Keep in mind that this is not authentic food. As long as you are aware of this fact going in, then you will be pleased. Probably the best thing about this place are the $5 appetizers and drinks from 9pm to close. They will allow you to eat a full meal in the bar area and wait around until the happy hour, which is exactly what we did. We ordered our main course a little after 8 and by the time we were done it was happy hour! My meal was fine and hit the spot, however, it isn't the same as dining in Mexican town. However, if you live in the area and want to meet up with friends without re far drive, this is a great spot.

Great location, cute and clean place! Everyone was friendly, but as the time went on, the service was a little slow, even though the food came out sooo fast. The salad was okay, dressing on the side. The ceviche was great, but don't get it if you can't handle spice because it definitely has a kick! There could have been some more seafood though. The guacamole was fantastic though! For dinner I had the cabo dinner with chicken, it was just okay- really not much flavor even though it was in a white wine sauce. And my first bite definitely was a chunk of fat I had to spit out. The strawberry mojito was fantastic though! I'll probably give it another try because the atmosphere was great, but I might prefer Mex or Mexican village.

This is a yummy lunch stop if you are working near Orchard Lake Rd. I typically do carry out and order their chicken or beef nachos. They used to put carrots, black olives, onions, peppers and jalapeños in it but they've altered the recipe a bit. I'm rather sad about this change because it was so different! Now it's less original however it's still satisfying. Try their fresh guacamole and chips if you just want a taste of what this place can offer :) they also have a banquet facility too for special events!

Yikes. Service was atrocious to start. We NEVER saw our waiter, got drink refills or offered apps or dessert. The place was DEAD, and we were also right next to the kitchen, where many servers were hanging around.If this wasn't enough to put us off, the food was. The area we live in has many Mexican places to choose from and we thought that this being more "upscale" that the food would be great. The Mexican chicken soup was BLAND, and tasted like the water that was mixed with refried beans. Hot sauce did nothing. Then, we each got something different so we could try each others things and the only good thing about any of the dishes was the guac. The rest? BLAND. How can Mexican food be bland? there was NO FLAVOR AT ALL. I rather go to a dive place that doesn't look pretty for phenomenal meal vs a place that has pretty walls. We wont come back.

I believe they are supposed to seat you but after 6 minutes of looking and waiting we sat ourselves. The servers were nice but extremely slow. Jorge was the bus boy but ended up taking care of us and did a great job. Enchiladas were good but the shell was too thick. Salsa and chips were great. The food is authentic Mexican and reasonably priced. The people are nice, they have a great selection of beers, wines and tequila. I would eat here anytime as this is as good of Mexican food that I've had from Arizona, California, Texas, New Mexico and really anywhere in the south/southwest. I was meeting a friend for happy hour and some conversation and she chose this spot. From the outside it looks trendy and chic with the valet, but I wasn't blown away once I got inside. We sat at the bar which had great service and it was a nice spot for a little conversation but it can get a cramped after 7. They were out of Blanton's so I opted for what my date was having...their skinny margarita was pretty decent. We ordered a chicken quesadilla for something small to eat and I was kind of let down. For $9 I guessed I would get something a little more filling (despite the fact we were sharing) and less skimpy on the accoutrements. A dollop of sour cream and a dollop of guac alongside a quesadilla that didn't taste very Mexicany. I was a little bummed but so it goes. I gather what Abi said may hit the mark...everything is likely just OK here and I'm not in a hurry to get back here. But again the bar service was fast and friendly so kudos to them.

So this place is ok. Food ok but don't get dressed up. Very very casual. And don't expect to have your dirty dishes cleared. Your server won't do it. We asked as our plates sat I front of us forever after we were done and she said it's not her job. Yuck! Who wants to look at their dirty dishes the whole time while finishing your drinks. Her tip reflected her laziness!
The food was soggy and didn't seem fresh. The wings were smothered in sauce and tasted like microwaveable instant wings. The ribs were descent but unlike the reviews I didn't quite find them very delicious. I got the chicken and steak fajitas and it was below average. Lacked flavor and was very bland. I would have expected more flavorful dishes at a good Mexican restaurant. The service was good.

Again, They deserve at least four stars, maybe five for the bar. This time I came for a late lunch and there was a Happy Hour Gold Margarita for $5. I wasn't expecting much for $5 but it was as awesome as their full priced drinks. (I expect happy hour drinks to water down the alcohol) I asked they NOT use the sweet and sour mix and replace with hint of lime and they did a fantastic job. Had the taco salad again, and again, with the beautiful presentation.. I think it's a little weird that they offer all dressings with it. (seems that a mexican place should have their own special mexican dressing for a taco salad specialty...raspberry vinegrette is only going to ruin it, so don't offer it up), and the taste is fine. just nothing you would come back for. They are making money on the bar and that's where they are ocncentrating their efforts. IT's called a tequila bar for a reason. But foodies, you had better head down to Mexican town... or at least, Imperial in Ferndale.

My girlfriend and I went here after a long time of one or the other of us mentioning it every time we passed it on the way home from grocery shopping or what have you. "Hey, Huerto! We need to try that sometime..." You know how it goes. This past Thurdsay, we finally made good on the thought. We walked in, were seated immediately, ordered a couple of hurricanes and were treated to some complimentary chips and salsa. By the way, if they decided they wanted to offer jars of that salsa to take home, I would make a counter-offer to PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY. That salsa was awesome. The cocktails were tasty and the filet bites we split had a nice kick to 'em. I supplemented that with a pair of a la carte taquitos, which were tasty provided you can get a bite of tomato, lettuce and sour cream onto the fork. Luckily for me, I'm well-practiced in fork manipulation.

Visited in June 21. Everything was of a superb quality that we had. Environment: Ambiance and size we're great. Tequila: selection seemed very good although I am no expert. The bartender was fun and knowledgeable and helped us zero in on a flight to taste. Food: I judge first on chips and salsa. EXCEPTIONAL from my stand point. A great fresh salsa and lower mid range burn. Great guacamole. Ceviche was "safe". Shrimp and scallops. I prefer a fish-especially salmon-based and some cumin. I believe this is Peruvian. Others review said it had a lot of kick. It wasn't that bad for me and I am at the mid level heat tolerance scale. Also couldn't taste that much lime. It wasn't killer. But just the same it seemed like a healthy selection. I would probably go there just for salsa and chips and guacamole and drinks and might repeat the Ceviche. We ordered tamales and chicken quesadilla to go. And even eaten under these conditions - reheated, the food was excellent. We have a lot of Mexican choices. But I'd make the drive for this place.

I really wanted to love this place-it's close to my home and the interior is super nice. I went on a Saturday and they even had live music playing a mix of salsa and soul. But the service was terrible. Drinks were good. But the wait for our food was ridiculously long after already waiting a really long time to be seated. They then gave my friend the wrong meal..twice. Atmosphere was great. Food was ok. Chile Relleno seemed to have a more egg-based coating that was baked with a very mild spiced pepper rather than fried with the right spice level to it. I did enjoy the homemade chili poppers, very good. Service was very slow, especially at the bar for happy hour. We had to ask multiple times for our tabs and the bartender had very little personality when interacting with us. It was difficult catching his eye to even order drinks (we had a group of 8, we would have ordered more drinks if we could have gotten his attention more often). Our waiter was great though once we were seated at our nice table outside by the outdoor fireplace.

Im so excited! Im the first to review! well i live right around the corner and Im from San Diego so I love authentic mexican food and this place really exceeded my expectations! Decor was upscale, contemporary with an open to outdoors concept! First of all sevice was above and beyond attentive, well groomed, and friendly! Complimentary chips and salsa were super fresh and light! Our margaritas were great but way too much ice and not enough liquid in a very short glass. Ordered taquito appetizers these were the best taquitos ive ever had im having them as my entree next time There were four of us and we each ordered a large entree, they all came with rice and beans. We all tasted each others food and all of our meals were very good. All in all we had 3 premium cocktails, chips and salsa, an appetizer, and 4 entrees for $85! That is a great price! For fresh good food you cant beat it!

Solid! I was a little worried about the up-and-down reviews, but we ended up here after a stint at the Plum market. The decor is quite charming and not kitschy. There are a couple things that could be better: the draft beer selection is a little thin, although to be fair i suppose the large margarita menu makes up for that. Likewise, the starters are a little unimaginative- both the salad and the chili were kinda meh. Secondly, the house salsa is boring as all getout, and there is no hotter option. That alone had me a little worried, until the food arrived. All in all, though, this place does Mexican standards very well- fresh, flavorful, and non greasy. The prices are very reasonable, too- we fed three with alcohol and a shared dessert for under fifty bucks. The wait was a little long, giving a little too much opportunity to fill up on beer. But the food was solid- the beef chimichangas were delicious. Even the cold leftovers we ate later were tasty. My husband had the pork verde, which he enjoyed. The menu was broad, so there are many things to try, and quite a few appetizers, making this a good choice of venue if you have a crowd to feed. (They also provide several very large tables for groups) There are a few veggie options as well, including a yummy-looking potatos verde dish.

I tried out this place Friday night with my sister spur of the moment. Love the upscale Mexican venue vibe. We sat at bar and were promptly greeted and served by friendly staff (and not hard on the eyes frankly :)! We had house margaritas and split Flautas dinner for lighter bites. One of those situations where you constantly had to wave the waitress down to get another drink etc. Not at all attentive. A couple of times the wrong item was served. I've been to Mexicantown in downtown Detroit, and that's usually been the only place I go for any sort of Mexican food. I've been getting a little tired going down there for food, especially since many places have become very generic-tasting. So, it goes without saying that I was delighted to find out about this place. Margaritas are pretty good, and definitely fairly priced for the amount they give (get the 18 ouncer...worth it). The ceviche and jalapeño poppers are great choices for appetizers. The pork verde was juicy and tender. And from what others got, the fajitas for two provides plenty of food for more than 2 people. Tried the dessert Fried Ice Cream...a little bit of a disappointment. The crispy cornflake-like covering got a little soggy prior to being flash fried, so it gave a little bit of a weird consistency coating. Overall, though, i'd go back here for some good mexican food.

Pleasantly surprised after reading the mixed reviews on yelp! I ordered the Huerto Chimichanga- could you say delish?! The shredded beef inside was to die for but I didn't care much for the shredded chicken. The refried beans were flavorful but the rice was pretty bland. The guac was on point and probably my favorite part! Yummm!! The chips were thin, salted and crunchy and the salsa was good too! Only complaints are someone else's food at our table was cold. Like never heated cold. And the chili that came with my meal was extremely spicy!

Well, for so many "average" reviews, this place must be doing something right! 45 minute wait quoted for a table for 4 at 8PM. We grabbed a seat at the bar and reviewed the cocktail menu, settled on the skinny margaritas, which were good but a little pricey ($9.25 each, ouch). We were sat close to the estimated wait time, and ordered a second round of drinks and looked over the menu while enjoying the complementary chips and salsa - YUM! The chips were corn chips, freshly made, perfectly salted and the salsa was terrific! All of their mexican entrees sounded great! I don't remember ever seeing a mexican pizza on a menu before, except for taco bell. They also had a variety of salads and tacos. Was a little bummed their fish taco was fried fish, so I did not order it. I opted for the Huerto salad, both of my girlfriends got the super burritos. The salad was great! It was very fresh and the chicken was moist. It did not really need any dressing, but I did try some of the hot sauces that were on the table - beware of the green one! My mouth was on fire! The burritos were quite large and looked really good too. We had no issue with service and even had a round (or two) of shots sent over from another table ... so that always leaves a good impression :)

Overall everything was just OK. Came for lunch around 2:30 and they were not busy. I do have to say that the decor is very cool! love the lighting. The booths truthfully are kind of uncomfortable though, I would recommend sitting at a table if possible. The server was nice and attentive. We did have to ask for more coffee which was annoying considering we were one of 3 tables there but whatever. I only give this restaurant 3 stars because the food wasn't really anything special. I ordered the combo meal with 3 options and it was definitely a lot of food for relatively inexpensive. My issue was that the Mexican really didn't seem that authentic. The tortillas didn't appear to be made in house. I ordered an enchilada, the flautas, and fish tacos. My favorite was probably the fish tacos but again, nothing that I am thinking about later. Also don't order the hot tea/coffee It is Lipton and overpriced. I think I'll try it again for drinks and possibly dinner because they did have a really nice looking bar. ** not super expensive **

I've been to Huerto's a few times. It's the only real legit Mexican place in West Bloomfield and for that reason, I'm glad they're around. My experience with their food is just okay. I've gotten burritos there and feel that the tortillas are way too thick and take away from the rest of it. The chips and salsa are quality. The chili is quite tasty and spicy - it's probably my favorite thing there. I had the enchiladas last time I went and they were okay, but not really memorable. My wife got the fajitas and didn't think they were super special. The ambience at Huerto's is nice but I don't feel the food is up to speed. I'd be okay never going back and would prefer to travel the extra 10 minutes to Mex in Bloomfield.

So, I had the priveledge to try out this amazing resturant on Opening Night. The atmosphere was great and very much the type of place I like. I have a food blog so I am very much picky to certain things. I don't know if some of these people are just being negative but, I got really good service at the bar with Jeff. He was very helpful and for the reviewer who complained about no drink prices on the menu "Really that's everywhere" stop being cheap. The food was very tasty the guac app was delightful and the fish taco were amazing. I also agree they need a couple more sauces with a little more kick but that will come. This restaurant is new and very elegant. Give it a chance it is new. It's worth a visit I believe. I love jeff and his new wife and dogs and this new restaurant on the Lake, Orchard Lake that is.

Great place to go to with the wife and kids or just a bunch of guys to watch the game. Their food is great! I like the chicken flautas and the beef rancheros. The fish tacos are also a personal favorite if your looking for something small and not too filling. They have live music depending on the day. The prices are right! Nice setting. Great location. Friendly service. Just don't expect much from their food. There was four of us and the food quality ranged from bland (tacos without much flavor, salad with grilled chicken - just a bunch of greens thrown together with dry-ish chicken and some non-descript dressing) to weird. The weird part was the fajitas. It had some strange flavor in it, not quite cinnamon but similar. Something you'd expect in a cake, not in a Mexican meat dish. It was strange but still not tasty. Even the refried beans were tasteless. Now, I can see how someone going there for a few drinks would like the place. But as a place to eat, especially the Mexican food, it falls short.

My wife and I finally returned after our last visit during their first week in business. I had steak fajitas and my wife had chicken fajitas. Both were delicious with ample servings. Our waitress was wonderful and kept the chips and salsa coming. She was attentive and knew the menu well. My only regret was I don't remember her name and wish I could give her a callout to give her credit for a good job. Bottom line is this was a very pleasant experience. Good food, good service and the decor was pleasant. We will definitely come back and recommend the restaurant.

However, they overcharged us and, when I asked them to rectify it, the waiter argued with me (he said that the kitchen had accidentally put too much chicken on our fajitas and we had to pay for the extra. Went here on a Thursday evening around 7. LOVE the openess of the rooms (every servers dream). For drinks my fella and I ordered huerto hurricanes. They have a nice dark rum float on top which gives you a pleasant shocked. For our second drinks, I got a mimosa and he got the purple rain. The mimosa was good (as mimosas generally are) and the purple rain was waaaay to sweet for me personally. Honestly, I probably should have tried one of their margaritas or other signature tequila drinks but tequila turns me into a "woo girl. " As far as food goes, we aplit the filet bites, dude had taquitos, I had a cup of the chicken and rice soup and a regular chicken burrito with a side of guacamole. The filet bites are probably the best thing I have put in my mouth in a long time! Seriously, I could have died after eating those and been totally content. The chicken and rice soup had cheese in it (which I was not expecting) but still exceptional. The broth was very flavorful, the veggies were the perfect inbetween of hard/soft and the shredded chicken was delightful. The chicken burrito was good, a bit plain (just cheese and chicken ) but that was my own doing. I should have ordered the super(Doh! ) . I added guacamole and chalula and I was awesome. My boyfriend had the taquitos which he was very pleased with. Oh and I am forgetting to mention how great the chips and salsa were. My boyfriend said that he could just drink the salsa and be happy. Also, the array of hot sauces on the table is always great. I think there were 5 or 6. Our server's name was Gabrielle and she was really great and helpful. She was able to answer questions we had and was really nice. Based off this first experience at huerto, I would come back everyday if I could but I live in Cleveland. Alas, I will just have to wait impatiently until my next trip.

Went for lunch with my daughter and had the most amazing taco salad at a special luncheon price of just $7.Loved having the choice of luncheon specials for the price and portions. The presentation was superb and the veggies so fresh as well as beautiful. This is NO Taco Bell salad. No Taco Bell either. High end food & atmosphere, but not expensive. Nice avacado and red & green peppers as well as great white Mexican cheese. Just the right size for lunch and there was a choice of shredded chicken or beef. Tasty. My daughter had a combo taco and an enchilada for $9 with rice & beans. Great decor, dine alfresco if you like in good weather. Surely will be back.

Short story: Great fresh food, not greasy. Long story: Finally was able to get in this place. Great vibe. There was a 25min wait so we grabbed a margarita while we waited - very good: not too sour, generous tequila pour. The chips are hot and very thin - my favorite kind! Salsa was good - not the best I've ever had but it was good. Jalapeño poppers were out of this world (well at least the 2nd round was ~ the first batch they brought out were still frozen in the center). Ordered the shrimp fajitas for dinner - very good. The tortillas tasted homemade and the fillings were all VERY fresh. Husband loved his tacos - he got a sampler, he especially liked the one with pineapple and steak. My mom ordered the taco salad, it was huge and the ingredients were very fresh - excellent she said. I strongly recommend this place. It's not the best Mexican I've ever had - but for the immediate area it's the best available, hands down.

Not what we expected, but we'll be back. Cozy, 'Mexican living room' style ambiance on the other side of the wall from the bar. (Which, btw, is a nice barrier if you're not into the bar scene or just prefer a quieter dinner scene.) Generous portions. Food is flavorful. Chili is nice and spicy. Fish tacos were very good - we ordered one grilled. Cat, our server, was just that - a servant... With a genuine smile and a good attitude. She left a great impression on all of us. We'll be back to explore some more food items on the menu.

I have tried Huerto a few times since they opened--hard to beat Mexican food close to my house. The decor is beautiful. The patio outside looks amazing, and the restaurant itself looks great. The menu has a wide variety and lots of drink specials. In short, I really wanted to love this place, and I tried really hard! Every time we have been there, something has gone wrong with the food. It was either cold, over-cooked, had the wrong ingredients, or took forever to appear at our table. The staff is friendly and always happy to fix any errors, but the errors happen a bit too frequently for my liking! I will probably give them another try, but there are too many restaurants at 15 and Orchard to spend time and money somewhere that isn't stellar.

I've been a regular here since it opened and it has been consistently excellent. I've tried a large portion of the menu and everything is delicious. Highlights for me are the fish tacos, fajitas, buffalo shrimp tacos and chimichangas. The sopapillas are a favorite too. The service is excellent, and you see the owners in the restaurant all the time, which explains the consistent quality. Definitely give this place a try!

Decided on Huerto for dinner with a friend. I love Mexican Food and am always looking for a great Mexican place. Since moving to Michigan from Chicago, authentic Mexican food had been hard to find. We got there around 7:00 and were seated fairly quick. The waiter was super nice and he was very attentive. We ordered the guacamole appetizer and it was great. They have really good thin style tortilla chips. I was a bit disappointed by the salsa. It was more like tomato sauce then salsa! Both my girlfriend and I had the single item combo. It was a good deal of food and very reasonable priced. She had the beef tostada and I had the fish taco. They both came with rice and beans and a salad. My taco was fabulous! I only ate the rice, since the beans had cheese on them and I don't eat dairy. It was good, but a bit dry. The salads were nice too. More then a typical garden salad as it came with a ton of garbanzo beans and olives. Overall, the food was good and I would make another trip back!

We have gone a handful of times and have never been disappointed! The chips and salsa are amazing, the staff is friendly, and the tacos (i've never tried anything else) are very good. My friend actually didn't like her chicken tacos the other night, but we both loved the pork and grilled pineapple tacos. The buffalo shrimp taco is awesome too. Refried beans & rice are very bland. Hola, Amigos! This is the new place to see and be seen in West Bloomfield! 8 of my college frat brothers and I took on Huerto's last week, and Huerto's won! Between the 9 of us, we sampled 9 different entrees and combos! Everyone from the most easy-going to the grouchiest among us agreed that their food was A) Hot (temp); B) Delicious; and C) Plenty to eat! Our individual choices ranged from Chicken Fajitas, to Buffalo Shrimp Tacos, to Mexican Pizza, to Huerto Chimichanga with beef, chicken and re-fried rice wrapped in a flour tortilla, to Flautas, the Carne Asa Burrito Platter and more. Personally, i chose the Rib dinner, which was very meaty, tender and plenty to eat in a half-slab. My only criticism was a little too much BBQ sauce. Pricing was reasonable and the atmosphere is very Mexican. ALMOST like being there! Only downside was slow service for a Monday evening, but they are new and should get up to speed soon, according to our charming hostess. Definitely worth a try for Mexican food lovers and likers!

We have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant near our house forever. The search continues... I wanted to like this place. I really really wanted to love this place. We ordered a burrito, tostado and a tamale. The food was bland and not very authentic. I was shocked. The tostado from Taco Bell has more flavor. The decor was awesome and we really enjoyed being outside with the fireplace. Maybe we will be back for drinks only!

I have to say, I love this place! I have been here quite a few times and it never disappoints. I love love love the floutas and mozzarella sticks. I'll admit at first I didn't think the staff was that nice but I realized it was just new and super busy. Because the manager of the place.. Female... Glasses.. She blew me away. She thanked me for coming in and being a loyal customer. She introduced me to the owner who was such a nice man. They both were very sweet and I am sucker for customer service. The food is so good, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is relax and fun. A very nice addition to the West Bloomfield community.

Simply put AWESOME! My Fiance and went for my Birthday just looking for somewhere different and new where we had not been before. Carne Asada burrito was great! Shrimp fajitas Great! Me and my partner went on a Friday night for a date. The entry is a little packed and when the two benches were full with waiting guests we weren't really sure where to stand. The hostess stand sits to the left when you enter but people are coming and going from all directions. We were seated quickly. The service was okay but the food wasn't that great. We ordered the fajitas for two chicken, steak and shrimp. it was average. Nothing special The meat wasn't seasoned. The beans and rice were run of the mill. All in all there was nothing that was GREAT to come back for. The decor was nice and the fact that they have live music is a plus. The food just wasn't that good.

My wife and I dined here last Friday night. It was a good thing we made reservations, as the lobby was filled with diners waiting for a table. We were soon sat at a table and promptly greeted by our waiter. My wife ordered the sangria and when I sampled it, it was quite delicious. I was a bit thrown off though, because it didn't have any fruit in it. We were served chips and salsa to start, and we found the salsa a bit more medium on the spice level and chips seemed fresh and crunchy. We ordered guacamole and it was probably the most memorable of all the things we ate that evening. I had the mexican chili as an appetizer and I found it enjoyable. Nice level of spice with the normal familiarity of beans and meat. I would have liked to see a small dollup of sour cream on top and cilantro to really set that dish off. My wife had a side salad with her meal and was really disappointed. We both agreed it looked like they had opened a bag of chopped iceburg lettuce mix from the grocery store and then added onions, olives,and garbanzo beans. There was a slight issue I had with the bartending staff when trying to get change for the valet. I must of stood near the bar for 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the bartender or nearby managers. A simple gesture like eye contact and a head nod, or 'I'll be right with you' would be all that I required. I finally had to stand directly in front of the cash register to get some attention. Now mind you I'm 6'4" and pretty hard to miss. My advice to the bartending staff, is don't forget to look up and address the patrons waiting for service because not everyone has my patience. One of the managers was at the bar area this whole time mind you, not paying any attention and was more interested in chatting with diners at the bar. In closing, I would come here again if friends wanted to try it, but I wouldn't seek this place out if I was in the mood for Mexican food.

This place just opened so a few of the points made in the negative reviews are probably legitimate but typical of a new restaurant still smoothing out the wrinkles. That said, our lunch there was really good. The fajitas for two with shrimp chicken and steak were outstanding and reasonably priced at $20. The waiter told us everything was marinated overnight and it showed. Steak was extremely tender (none of the fat or gristle you sometimes find in fajita steak). The shrimp flavor was incredible - I would eat the shrimp by itself as a meal. My wife loved her soup and she rarely eats soup. The beans and other side items were all top notch. Especially liked the jalapeño peppers served on the side...nice touch! It's worth noting that the atmosphere is awesome - way better than just about any other Mexican place around. Lots of tv's, cool bar, open and airy with lots of light. The buildout had to cost a fortune! Overall I would say this place is a strong 4 stars and will likely be worthy of 5 once they get the opening kinks worked out.

My advice if you decide to head here: 1) Sit at the bar. You are far better off going to the bar and going to the server than waiting for one to come to you. The service is not good. 2) Order a beer. The beers are cold and the choices are sufficient. The mixed drinks are too syrupy, icy, and not enough alcohol. 3) Order guacamole for the chips. The guacamole is awesome. 4) Enjoy the guacamole, the chils and the beer...and stop there. The rest of the food isn't very good. I think I make the same rice in the 60 second Uncle Bens bags in my microwave and the refried beans taste like the canned stuff I microwave out of a can at home. 5) Great place for beer, some chips, and to watch a game as they have great television. Otherwise, not very good and I wouldn't go back. I've lived in the immediate area for greater than 30 years and this place is likely headed in the same direction of every other restaurant that has occupied that building and will be out of business in 2-3 years. Sorry.

Service was great! Our server Maya was attentive and friendly. Although everything wasn't totally "authentic Mexican" (let's be honest, that's impossible to find outside of of Mexicantown Detroit), it was flavorful! Totally satisfied our cravings. The margaritas hit the spot. We did the Huerto because it's the most natural one, along with the Traveler and Spiced Agave. The chips are salsa were ok (not homemade but good). The cheviche was FRESH, spicy, and tasty - a great pick! Sometimes it can be hit or miss. This may have been one of the best I've had. We ordered some enchiladas and burritos from the ala carte menu - all great flavors and exactly what I expected. Finally, we ended with sopapilas. They were perfectly prepared and plenty for the two of us. Great date night and happy we came!

I had such high hopes for this place, since the area is in such desperate need of a good Mexican restaurant, unfortunately this place is not it. Food was bland and uninspired. Maragarita's were disappointing. The Presidente margarita was just OK. The Huerto signature had such an off-putting, metallic flavor that it made me paranoid that maybe my mouth was bleeding (it was not)! It was just so bad. Sent it back for another Presidente. I order a LOT of food when trying a new Mexican place for the first time, to make a fair assessment. Started with the guacamole. Bland!! Then Hubby and I each got "build your own 3 item combos" each with 3 different things, so I tried those 6 menu items (Tamale, Tostada, Taco, Enchilada, Burrito, Flauta) PLUS an ala carte Chile Relleno. None of it was good at all. It reminded me of mexican day at a school cafeteria. Bland unseasoned beef, bland overly thick refried beans, flavorless cheese, etc. The food is bland to the point that hot sauce just can not fix. Very disappointed, especially with an 80+ dollar bill. In summary, the decor is beautiful, the servers are attentive, but the food and drinks are just NOT good. Great concept but horrible execution.

Like so many others around this area, I was excited to finally get a Mexican restaurant. The vibe and the bar area were pretty cool. After that, it went down hill. Menu was odd with fish and chips and ribs but the the Mexican entrees were all very standard...nothing unique. The guacamole seemed to be made with fresh avocados but was totally flavorless. The steak fajitas were made with awful meat and seasoning that cried anything but Mexican. Fajitas aren't difficult and the meat should be the star. The carne asada was dry and the tortillas dominated.....Like getting a very thin burger with a huge bun. The waiter asked if I was too full to finish my food....no, it just want worth eating. For 15 years I've only gone to Mexican Village section in downtown Detroit for quality Mexican food. I was hoping to find a good place in the suburbs. Oh well...I will still be making the drive to the D when I crave Mexican.

Decided to visit Huertos Tequila Bar & Grill. Upon entering I very surprised at how crowded the large restaurant was for a Tuesday night. I was warmly greeted by the hostess - who sat me after only a couple minute wait. The menu has lots of variety. I had the Huertos Chimichanga. The meal had the right amount of spice and the portions were terrific. The dinner salad was crisp & fresh. Chips and salsa were plentiful. Service was terrific - food was served within the right time frame and table was cleared timely. Our table was visited by members of the staff on a number of occasions. Great experience. So I don't typically write reviews but am because Huertos has just opened and I have already been there 5 times. I live and work in the area and am so glad we finally have a Mexican restaurant in the area, and one that's great on top of it. The apps are all to die for. My favorites include the Flautas, Botanas, Buffalo Shrimp (OMG UNREAL), and even there chicken wings are awesome. Had dinner here, in a party of 7, on a Friday night. We arrived at 7pm, hoping to get a table for 7:30ish because they do not take reservations. The bar area was very crowded with people waiting to get a bite to eat. Our "bartender" couldn't make more than 1 drink at a time, so we ended up crowding the bar up awaiting our drinks to be taken care of. We were able to get to our table in a decent amount of time and were "greeted" by our server. (Not naming names) Who then took a drink order from us. My wife ordered a margarita, but was not asked if she wanted it blended or on the rocks. It arrived blended, oh well. The server would then take off, and come back 10 minutes later to take an appetizer order. With only 2 items being ordered as an appetizer, we were prepared to put our order in, but "Alakazam" the server was gone before we could request to order our food. Once our guacamole appetizer arrived, we did not have anything to eat it with. Nor could we find our server to request more tortilla chips. The server decided it would be best to take our dinner order after the appetizers were finished. I had the Chicken Rancheros, which is served with Rice and Beans and a Salad. Others at my table had some food allergies and requested an allergy menu, of which one was not available, and the table was assured that their food would be safe. (Not normally an acceptable answer when someone has an allergy) My friend's pre-dinner salads arrived, however, mine did not. I did not know if perhaps mine would be smaller, or they ordered something different, so I did not mention anything. When the meal arrived, I asked if I could have my salad in place of a dessert, and the server response was "yea sure". Ok, great I thought to myself. Well that didn't happen either.... our friends ordered desserts, and my salad had not arrived. I apologized to the server, and asked if I might be able to have my salad, to which I was given a very poor look and demeanor and a prompt "Yes" answer. At this point, my friends also had become disappointed in the service they were receiving, and had decided to walk up to speak with a manager to detail some of the issues that our table was having. The manager then looked to speak with the server, and come back to us to inform us that they would be giving us the desserts at no charge, (of which 3 out of 7 people ordered). We did NOT see the server again for the rest of the evening. The manager brought us our checks (split checks) and come to find out, all of the desserts were not only still on the bill, but they were on my bill. Oddly enough, I did not order dessert. We then had to speak with a different manager to get that taken care of. All in all, we were at the establishment for about 4 hours for dinner. Food Quality: not half bad. didn't think anything special Service: beyond negative quality. The reason we will never go back and will tell anyone I can find not to go here.

First time visit to this new location. I had heard good things and wanted to check it out. The buzz is right... This place is fantastic! The chips are light and crispy, not oily, and the salsa is very good... Ask for the salsa verde with the chips also... They are happy to bring it and it is great! I tried the skinny margarita and it was also great... Fresh and light! I had two! I had the carnitas and my friend had the steak fajitas.... Both were fantastic and more than enough food. I will definitely be back! The bartender Chelsea was friendly, knowledgeable and a lot of fun! The owner came up and spoke to us and seemed genuinely interested in our opinion. I think this place is a winner!

We were happy to see a new Mexican restaurant located closer to home than we usually find this cuisine. After one false start (not their fault - we came on the night of their pre- opening party), we came back with another couple - plus their son- about a week later. First, and most important: the food. In general, while Huerto doesn't offer much beyond the usual Norteamericano Mexican fare (tacos, tortillas, enchiladas, etc.), what was on the menu was well prepared. Where it fell seriously short of the mark was in the service. Our server seemed incapable of either writing down our party's orders, or remembering them. One of us ordered a dinner salad with chicken and avocado. It arrived sans chicken, and sans avocado. Our dining companion's husband corrected the situation by ordering a chicken fajita for her, so she could get some protein . No offer was made to adjust the bill. Nor did anyone apologize. 2 of us had to ask at least twice for the side salads that came with our dinners. My husband ordered chicken fajitas. The server came out and told him the kitchen had made beef fajitas by mistake, and he had to wait while they prepared what he had ordered. Then, when his order arrived, there was not enough chicken for the 4 tortillas that came with it. This is an attractive restaurant, and the staff is friendly enough. Unless the service and preparation improve, however, we will not exactly rush to return.

Our waiter was great with accommodating our large group even though we all needed separate checks. The food was very good, lots of flavor (not sure what others are complaining about). Amazing chips and salsa. Amazing skinny margaritas (although extremely watered down bc I couldn't feel anything after two). Guac was just ok. The chicken rice soup is mouthwatering. My carne asada burrito platter was delish. The mexican rice was well seasoned. My friend's chicken ranchero dish looked so appetizing as did my other friend's fish taco. I love the decor except for The random bison head on the wall. Ambience is great. Appreciated the owner coming by the tables to check on everyone. I can't wait to come back to this place. This place was so packed on a wed night. But we were lucky to get a table for six right away.

I was so happy Huerto's opened in our neighborhood but am not expecting it to be here for very long. The decor and atmosphere is great but the food lacks flavor. I cannot even say this is a mediocre Mexican restaurant, it is worst than that. Not only are there no prices on any of the drinks on the menu, the waiter told us he didn't really know the prices because they "change all the time"!. Overall, almost everything we ordered lacked flavor. My husband gave the chili a 7/10 and was quite spicy. The compliementary salsa is boring. The carnitas and al pastor tacos are the worst we've ever had - hard pieces of sliced pork in greasy corn torillas with no flavor. The chicken enchilada was also flavorless with a pasty sauce on top. The shredded beef tostada had nice texture, but again, flavorless. The refried beans tasted like nothing. I can't believe anyone running this place or in the kitchen is Mexican or has any background in preparing (or tasting?) food. Even good restaurants in this space have failed so unless there is a total redo of the food, this one is toast for sure!

Very average steak fajitas. Small portion of meat. It was nice that guacamole and Mexican cheese were included. But a New Mexican place should be able to deliver rock star fajitas. Bummer. Bowl of rice veggie soup was good, but it had almost no chicken and hardly any veggies. It was almost all broth. Bar area pretty cool. Lots of big screen TVs.

were the first customers on a sunday, getting near 1 pm. hum... lots of usual items, but a couple new ideas; so i thought i should try those since i can get the usual just about anywhere. i got the Chile Verde Con Queso, said it was a casserole. well is was a boiled potato sliced and lined down the middle of a plate. topped with cheese, then diced green chiles and sauted mushrooms then heated until the cheese melted, along with rice and beans. didn't really take must effort or imagination to not actually cook this dish. it was bland and there was no salt/pepper on the table. Rice had some flavor and the beans were OK. friend got the usual one enchilada with rice and beans combo. average, nothing special. their chips and salsa were good; salsa with a little kick. the oddity was that there were offered chili, chik rice soup or salad as a starter with the meals. so with the chips/salsa and salad which we chose, we were about full before the main dish came. did pick up a takeout menu on way out and the prices were way less than we paid. don't know if we got sunday or dinner prices or whether the takeout menu was old and out of date. makes one wonder tho. so with the somewhat steep prices of the con queso being $12 for a boiled potato and the combo being $9 it will make me stop and think, then conclude i probably will not return. this place is obviously an american mexican place with several american diner options. had to ask for sweetener also for ice tea, so be prepared to beg.

I live just about a mile away from this place, and I have been waiting for a Mexican restaurant to open. I was sooo excited when they finally opened their doors! The food was fantastic! I ordered the Huerto Chimichanga and it was absolutly delicous!! The reason I'm leaving four stars instead of five is because the wait was a bit too long, understanding that it is a new restaurant everyone wants to try it out so the wait will be long for awhile but totally worth it! My waiter was awesome and the owner walked by our table and introduced himself! It was a great experience and I definiatly recomand it!!

Yelp deleted my first review of this site, maybe because it was positive? My wife and I have been to Huerto twice for lunch and twice for dinner. She enjoys the quesadillas and I've enjoyed the flautas, the burrito bowl and the fajitas. Each time we have gone we have had great service and excellent food. We prefer to eat in the bar area where there are plenty of flat screen tvs, lots of fun people and the bartenders (especially Heather) are attentive and fun. We look forward to lots of fun times there.

The food was okay the first couple of times. The service has always been very slow and the waitstaff is not very friendly, at least they haven't been when I'm there. I prefer fish tacos on corn tortillas, not flour. The salsa tastes a little like spaghetti sauce. It needs to be made fresh daily to taste authentic and use only fresh tomatoes and well cleaned cilantro to give it that traditional fresh taste. The Ceviche is lacking in lime juice and spiciness. I was really looking forward to good Mexican near our home but I am disappointed. I love to cook and I'm Latin American so I guess I'm picky. I feel the food is bland and lacking in authentic taste. The last time we ordered take out on a Sunday I got stale hard rice and brown guacamole, which is a Latin NO-NO. Latinos know their rice, so you cannot pass off yesterdays rice and Guacamole on us. A pretty place, great location that can really shine with a few tweaks. Good food that is fresh and tasty takes a little effort but it pays off. I was anxious to spread the word to my Latin friends, but now, not so much...

If you're looking for a hip, delicious place to enjoy a perfect margarita, this is the place to go. Every time I have been to this restaurant, the service has been impeccable. Mindful of my two young sons I always have in tow, (except the time I had that marvelous margarita I mentioned!) Heurto always makes all three of us feel welcomed. They even know my oldest son's order by heart and it always comes out just the way he likes it! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fresh, moderately-priced meal to share with family or friends :D

They have a great tequila section (obviously) and they even carry the WHOLE Don Julio line of tequila. I cant wait till their patio is open so I can enjoy the experience outside.

After following this place for months via Facebook, I was pretty excited that they finally opened up! We went on a Monday night and it was PACKED- I mean, I did get there right around 6:30 but it was insanely busy. I was meeting two friends there and they, of course, were running late so I put our name in and was informed it was a 45 minute to an hour wait. That was a-okay with me since 1. They have a bar and 2. My friends were running late anyways. So I weaved my way to the bar and waited patiently to make eye contact with the bartender. It took quite awhile for him to get to me, but once he did I ordered the House Margarita. It was really good! Since the bar was packed and it looked like no one was leaving anytime soon, I took my drink back towards the door to find a seat. Finally a group got up and I snatched my seat. The ambiance was cool, pretty urban feeling but I feel like they need more seats for those waiting. All there were was 2, maybe 3, seats and a bench. After about 35 minutes, they took me to the table were I was still waiting for my friends. I was immediately greeted and given chips and salsa. They were really good. When my friends FINALLY arrived, we got an app of guac and the ceviche. I thought both were excellent and my friends were in agreement. They also thought the house margarita was really good. For my entree, I ordered the chimichanga and someone else ordered the tacos. The chimi was excellent... came with rice and beans. I was so full from all the chips and the apps that I was only able to eat half of it. But not to worry yelpers! I was given a box and it tasted equally as delish the next day- which to me, is a sign of quality food. But that may just be me! I just found out (via their Facebook page) that they now do call aheads for groups of 6 or more- so I would def do that since they're still new. Overall, really good service and food. I'll for sure be going back once the newness of the place wears down and there's not a huge wait.

Seriously, there is no where else to go around here and this place is pretty good. I got an assortment of tacos and my husband designed his own combo. Everything was great. Was it the best I ever had? No, but am I going to drive a gazillion miles to go get the same fare at some other joint? No, this place will do just fine!

I am pretty shocked this place has such low ratings. It's why I didn't try it out sooner. Boy do I regret it! I went on a Friday afternoon right at lunch time and even though the parking lot was full, the place is so big we were immediately given a table. The ambience is super nice , very fresh and hip vibe to it. Our server was fantastic. I have no idea how but literally every moment my coke was done she would show up out of nowhere and give me a new glass. The food was beyond fantastic. No lard! That's the hardest part of finding a good Mexican restaurant!!! And the vegetables were super fresh. The portions were huge, especially considering it was their lunch menu. My friend and I were hardly able to finish everything. I am definitely frequenting this place more often.

I was hoping that this place would have gotten it together since our first experience but it's the same. The menu is great and offers a wide variety. The food is average... Not bad, not amazing. The service is awful!! Both times we went, it took over an hour to get our food. Our server never refilled our drinks and we had to ask the non English speaking bus boy for more chips. The restaurant wasn't busy so I have no idea why the service is consistently slow. I believe it's a combination of both the kitchen and blonde waitresses. Unless you are looking to eat lots of chips while you wait, go to Mex!

This place was a pleasant surprise! I never expect much from so called "Mexican" restaurants in Michigan, and the food here is pretty pedestrian - mostly tacos and chimichanga type stuff-but the food was fresh and delicious for that style of cooking. The cocktails were delicious, but a bit slow coming out of the bar. The food was well timed and our server was delightful. The manager greeted and checked on our experience. The decor is terrific. Huerto is not the more elevated Mexican dining experience I keep hoping for, with fresh ceviches and house made mole. Instead they round out the menu with hamburgers and a club sandwich. I don't get that at all. Be more ambitious with the Mexican cuisine! Huerto is a good place to get a botana plate, some tacos al pastor and a refreshing tequila cocktail. I'll take it for now, and hope they keep stepping up their game.

Decided on a whim to dine here on Saturday at 6pm. The wait was projected to be 45-50 min, but additional seating opened up and we were seated within 5minutes, and immediately happy with the chips and salsa and beverages. Admittedly, the salsa needs to be spruced up regarding quantity and flavor...but it still satisfied. The chips are light and crispy-very satisfying. The guac was basic and good. As for the meal, the burritos were solid, good. The fish tacos need NOT to be beer battered, and then they would be great! The shrimp fajitas sizzled and delivered on flavor. We would definitely go back and we hope that some slight flavor improvements will be made. Huerto is a welcome addition to the restaurants in that area.

Had lunch here on a Friday at noon so it was moderately busy. Service was very good / attentive, and the prices were very reasonable for the generous serving size. But the food was just mediocre. As one reviewer pointed out, the salsa tastes like tomato sauce: very plain. I ordered the chimichanga. It was stuffed with shredded chicken and beef but it was dry. However my sister had the buffalo shrimp taco and loved it.

Went there with 2 other buddies on a Thursday evening. Place was packed. We each ordered their "Huerto margaritas" which weren't bad. We sat by the bar and they also give you chips and salsa. Nothing special quality-wise but not bad. We ordered some tacos. Price is a bit on the high side since it's supposed to be a higher end restaurant. They were OK, nothing to rave about. I think it was like $8 or so for a taco! I have no idea why it says $3.49 on their website. But the worst thing was they had two guys playing live music on the corner. The music was good but too damn loud! We couldn't talk. Mind you this is a restaurant with a bar, not a club!

This place is really vegetarian friendly. I'd highly suggest getting their mexican pizza. If you're vegetarian get it with the veggies, despite my vegetarian status I am not a huge vegetable lover. They do something really special with their veggies here that make them taste tangy but awesome. The nachos are also pretty good. We ordered some mojitos which were weak but tasty. Honestly, when I've had a rough day at work, their patio, a few drinks, and a mexican pizza can reverse the whole day. Definitely try it out! Side note: I've also come here for a bridal shower. The food was just as good! :)

The hostesses were friendly and the restaurant packed so we ended up eating at the bar. I have dined here twice and the food is pretty good. The tacos, red rice, and flautas are very delicious and tasteful. The daiquiris are also very good. Love the atmosphere and decor. The only complaint is the food does not come out hot, it is just room temperature. The first time I did not bother to complain because I figured it is a new restaurant so would cut them some slack but the second time I returned (a few months later) and I had the same problem but didn't feel like complaining. Hopefully that issue is resolved.

So, here is my update after our bad experience the first time. I am now convinced this place is going to be a winner. Just tell the hostess to greet their guests and not to only throw the two words "How many?" to the customers. We were seated next to the fireplace. It was nice, cozy and warm. Our waiter introduced himself and gave us all his attention for our orders. The drinking menu is amazing - a huge selection of Margaritas, an even bigger selection of Tequilas, Mezcals and other liquor. I was thirsty, so I decided to take a draft beer, because they have the "Breakfast Stout" on tap. And of course there is a decent selection of other beers on tap and bottles as well. For our food we were starting with the Filet Bites. These are juicy Cajun tenderloin bites, cooked in special sauce with Serrano peppers, onion and cilantro. That is something to die for. What a great dish perfectly cooked and made of high quality ingredients. That will be my absolute favorite here and I almost can not wait to come back and eat it again. Our entrees were a Burrito, a Taco and Fajitas. The dishes came and everything looked great. I found tons of onions and a lot of meat on my sizzling plate - exactly how I love it. The taste was excellent, the meat quality perfect, everything on the table was making us happy and we enjoyed it. After we finished our entrees we needed some minutes to decide having a dessert. We shared the Mud Pie. This is made of layered gourmet chocolate, coffee and rocky road ice creams, topped with rich chocolate syrup in a crunchy Oreo cookie crust. That was a good finish. We paired it with one Tequila Anejo on the side. After this visit we are sure to come back more often.

We were glad we did. This is the great go-to Mexican restaurant for us and the margaritas are great as well. We have been back several times when we're in the area as well!

I came here with my Wife and two kids for dinner. We asked to sit outside (70 degrees and overcast) but they said that the patio was closed. Weird; there was a table sitting out there at the time. Do you have a booth? "No"... ooooook. "Right this way"; and we were led to a table for 5. Not the best foot to start off on, it's ok to talk to your customers and make them feel welcome... We ordered the chicken flautas appetizer and it was very good. The kids didn't like it, which was great, because my Wife and I loved it. I had the steak fajitas and my wife did a make your own combo. The food was slightly better than your 'run-of-the-mill' mexican restaurants; but nothing spectacular. I will mention that the ambiance is quite nice, but the food doesn't quite match. When you present a trendy, up-scale setting, you sort of expect something more out of the food. When you get the same old beans / cheese / rice that you can get at any mexican restaurant across the country, it's slightly disappointing. We did get out of there with only a mid $40s bill; and we ate another meal off the leftovers. So for that; 3-stars.

First of all, there are NO Happy Hour Specials allowed outside and or indoors unless you're at the "BAR" area. There is a 1.5" note to the side of the specials board excluding specials. :( Waiter we had was a space cadet, the bus boy was more attentive to all of the customers than he was. Went here last night for dinner. Started with the fresh start cocktail. It's a tequila based cocktail. Was so so didn't have that much flavor but the fresh mint was a nice touch. Free chips and salsa was okay. Salsa was a little watered down and again not much flavor. Fish taco had fried fish, kinda wish it wasn't fried. The cabbage on top and sauce was great. Got a side of guacamole and added it to my taco. Only came with one but it was a pretty big size.

At first I thought this was one of those "it's just another Mexican restaurant" places, but as soon as I started eating Huerto's chips and salsa, I knew I was there for a good time! Went with my husband for dinner on a Thursday evening - dined inside. Chips were a perfect hybrid of tortilla and pita chips. Something like what's good served with spinach and artichoke dip. Chips were perfectly salted and crunchy to the bite. Salsa was not chunky, it was more saucey, but still packed with flavor including my favorite, cilantro! It's easy to determine the salsa includes a great variety of chili flavors and smokiness. I ordered a skinny margarita which was DELICIOUS - it had a sweet-citrus flavor which I LOVE and not many restaurants in Metro Detroit offer this. Reminded me of Mexico. We ordered one appetizer, the guacamole. It was a decent size for $7.99 (remember, guacamole is expensive anywhere you go) and wasn't as good as mine, but still yummy! At least I could taste a decent amount of lime. For my dinner, I ordered shredded beef quesadillas with no sour cream. This was one of the best quesadillas I've ever had! They grilled it perfect (I could also taste a smidgen of butter which I love) and the beef had such great flavor and juiciness...quesadillas were topped with green onion, diced tomatoes and shredded Oaxacan cheese. They also came with a side of guacamole. This was one of those meals that I was sad it was over. My only single complaint is the service. We were seated immediately and the hostess was pleasant, but our server took about five minutes to come to our table and ask for our drink order. Our server did not make us feel welcome and did not smile for one second. She was dry and clearly did not care about her job. Regardless of the service, the margarita and food is more than enough to bring me back - can't wait to try a tequila flight next time!

Apparently there is a trend of Mexican fusion restaurants popping up and this is one of the latest. While the inside looks nice, that will probably be the most you'll enjoy. It's new, it's trendy, I get it. However, I'm there for the food. I want to enjoy it. I did get food, but enjoying it wasn't going to happen today. I was very unimpressed with their Ceviche. It was supposed to have shrimp and scallops with lime juice tossed with diced onions, cucumbers, tomato, cilantro and a touch of hot sauce, then topped with avocados and served with tortilla chips. It did have everything listed except for the shrimp and scallops. To be fair, it did have it, although there definitely wasn't enough. It's chopped into such small bits, you barely get any. What it did have plenty of, is heat. Be aware, it's spicy and has a kick! One person in our party couldn't eat it after their first bite. I then tried their chicken taco salad. It's huge, it'll easily feed two. It was ok. That's it, ok. The chicken was fine, but nothing to remember. I had to go look back at the picture to help me. I suppose if I were really hungry and had to eat something, it would be fine, just not my first choice. Who doesn't like fried dough, so the shell was good. However, the rice was supposed to have flavor right? If it was, they may have forgotten to add any flavor. I had higher expectations, but maybe they'll get better as time goes buy and adjust their food.

I am giving this place 4 stars for 2 reasons. First is that the hostess seemed very confused as to where to seat us (party of 4) when there were tables everywhere. We ended up sitting in the bar at a table and she seemed really stressed about that as well. Not a great start. The second is that everyone at my table got their food and the portions were huge. I got mine (crispy shredded beef taco and chile relleno) with beans and rice, which were rec. by the server. Weakest taco and Chile I have ever seen. The taco was about 2 bites and the chile was pressed flat like a pancake with no filling. It was actually weird. The drinks were awesome. We had fresh squeezed margaritas and they were perfect. The fresh guacamole was also really good. The service was good. Even though my food fell flat, the flavors were really good. Everyone enjoyed this place.

Terrible event management experience. I have never experienced this lack of service and negligence for a 80 person event ever. It began fine with a decent planner, Jenny, but she left and our whole event went to shit. Here are the details: Food: 1. For buffet catering and they under served us by about 40 people - in the middle of running out of food, they were arguing about the portion size instead of just making more food and making it a smooth event. 2. They started with just 1 bowl of guacamole for 80 ppl and didn't bring out more for 30 minutes!!! They didn't have anything prepped for this event and pretty much just showed up! 3. We had half of our party as vegetarian and they MIXED the chicken and cheese enchiladas in one tray so people had no idea what they were getting! This is just plain negligent and culturally insensitive! Service: 1. We were supposed to have 4 servers (which is probably just enough for 80 people) walking around the event asking if people wanted soda, tea and coffee and 1 bartender. Instead 3 servers showed up, no bartender, didn't walk around at all and in fact had to seek them out each other.

I knew as soon as I walked in that I would be disappointed since there were absolutely no mexican people working there, but we had just left my daughters dance competition and we needed something. We played it safe( we thought) and got queso, Huerto fries, and bean dip. The queso was like my Kentucky cousins velveeta and rotel diced chilis dip that he makes in his crockpot. Definitely NOT queso. Yuck. The fries had the same velveeta dip on them, double yuck, and the bean dip was not anything close to resembling authentic mexican fare except for the cast iron they served it in. Save your money, you'll make better food at home. DISGUSTING. The service was also VERY slow...... PS..........make sure you go to the bottom of the page and read ALL the reviews, if I had seen the rest of these reviews I would have starved on the hour drive home instead of stopping there.

Keep in mind that this is not authentic food. As long as you are aware of this fact going in, then you will be pleased. Probably the best thing about this place are the $5 appetizers and drinks from 9pm to close. They will allow you to eat a full meal in the bar area and wait around until the happy hour, which is exactly what we did. We ordered our main course a little after 8 and by the time we were done it was happy hour! My meal was fine and hit the spot, however, it isn't the same as dining in Mexican town. However, if you live in the area and want to meet up with friends without re far drive, this is a great spot.

Great location, cute and clean place! Everyone was friendly, but as the time went on, the service was a little slow, even though the food came out sooo fast. The salad was okay, dressing on the side. The ceviche was great, but don't get it if you can't handle spice because it definitely has a kick! There could have been some more seafood though. The guacamole was fantastic though! For dinner I had the cabo dinner with chicken, it was just okay- really not much flavor even though it was in a white wine sauce. And my first bite definitely was a chunk of fat I had to spit out. The strawberry mojito was fantastic though! I'll probably give it another try because the atmosphere was great, but I might prefer Mex or Mexican village.

This is a yummy lunch stop if you are working near Orchard Lake Rd. I typically do carry out and order their chicken or beef nachos. They used to put carrots, black olives, onions, peppers and jalapeños in it but they've altered the recipe a bit. I'm rather sad about this change because it was so different! Now it's less original however it's still satisfying. Try their fresh guacamole and chips if you just want a taste of what this place can offer :) they also have a banquet facility too for special events!

Yikes. Service was atrocious to start. We NEVER saw our waiter, got drink refills or offered apps or dessert. The place was DEAD, and we were also right next to the kitchen, where many servers were hanging around.If this wasn't enough to put us off, the food was. The area we live in has many Mexican places to choose from and we thought that this being more "upscale" that the food would be great. The Mexican chicken soup was BLAND, and tasted like the water that was mixed with refried beans. Hot sauce did nothing. Then, we each got something different so we could try each others things and the only good thing about any of the dishes was the guac. The rest? BLAND. How can Mexican food be bland? there was NO FLAVOR AT ALL. I rather go to a dive place that doesn't look pretty for phenomenal meal vs a place that has pretty walls. We wont come back.

I believe they are supposed to seat you but after 6 minutes of looking and waiting we sat ourselves. The servers were nice but extremely slow. Jorge was the bus boy but ended up taking care of us and did a great job. Enchiladas were good but the shell was too thick. Salsa and chips were great. The food is authentic Mexican and reasonably priced. The people are nice, they have a great selection of beers, wines and tequila. I would eat here anytime as this is as good of Mexican food that I've had from Arizona, California, Texas, New Mexico and really anywhere in the south/southwest. This blows all the other Mexican food away in Metro Detroit.

I was meeting a friend for happy hour and some conversation and she chose this spot. From the outside it looks trendy and chic with the valet, but I wasn't blown away once I got inside. We sat at the bar which had great service and it was a nice spot for a little conversation but it can get a cramped after 7. They were out of Blanton's so I opted for what my date was having...their skinny margarita was pretty decent. We ordered a chicken quesadilla for something small to eat and I was kind of let down. For $9 I guessed I would get something a little more filling (despite the fact we were sharing) and less skimpy on the accoutrements. A dollop of sour cream and a dollop of guac alongside a quesadilla that didn't taste very Mexicany. I was a little bummed but so it goes. I gather what Abi said may hit the mark...everything is likely just OK here and I'm not in a hurry to get back here. But again the bar service was fast and friendly so kudos to them.

So this place is ok. Food ok but don't get dressed up. Very very casual. And don't expect to have your dirty dishes cleared. Your server won't do it. We asked as our plates sat I front of us forever after we were done and she said it's not her job. Yuck! Who wants to look at their dirty dishes the whole time while finishing your drinks. Her tip reflected her laziness!

I really, really like this place! The atmosphere and décor are great. My boyfriend and I sat out on the patio because it was such a nice evening. They have a fire pit outside as well as a fireplace inside. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. We each started off with a Huerto margarita. They are pretty strong, with real lime juice (not sour mix) and were $8 a piece. We split the ceviche for an appetizer. It was really delicious but quite spicy, so warning on that. They do provide complimentary chips and salsa which were really good. I got the super burrito with beef and my boyfriend got the Los Cabos dinner with chicken. My burrito was huge for $7. It had a ton of beef with beans, sour cream, guacamole, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes. It was really delicious. My boyfriend's food was equally good and he got a cup of soup that came with his meal. I didn't try it but it looked yummy. The price was also very reasonable. We each had two alcoholic beverages, an entrée, and the shared appetizer. It came out to be $65. We will definitely be back in the future.

The food was soggy and didn't seem fresh. The wings were smothered in sauce and tasted like microwaveable instant wings. The ribs were descent but unlike the reviews I didn't quite find them very delicious. I got the chicken and steak fajitas and it was below average. Lacked flavor and was very bland. I would have expected more flavorful dishes at a good Mexican restaurant. The service was good.

Again, They deserve at least four stars, maybe five for the bar. This time I came for a late lunch and there was a Happy Hour Gold Margarita for $5. I wasn't expecting much for $5 but it was as awesome as their full priced drinks. (I expect happy hour drinks to water down the alcohol) I asked they NOT use the sweet and sour mix and replace with hint of lime and they did a fantastic job. Had the taco salad again, and again, with the beautiful presentation.. I think it's a little weird that they offer all dressings with it. (seems that a mexican place should have their own special mexican dressing for a taco salad specialty...raspberry vinegrette is only going to ruin it, so don't offer it up), and the taste is fine. just nothing you would come back for. They are making money on the bar and that's where they are ocncentrating their efforts. IT's called a tequila bar for a reason. But foodies, you had better head down to Mexican town... or at least, Imperial in Ferndale.

My girlfriend and I went here after a long time of one or the other of us mentioning it every time we passed it on the way home from grocery shopping or what have you. "Hey, Huerto! We need to try that sometime..." You know how it goes. This past Thurdsay, we finally made good on the thought. We walked in, were seated immediately, ordered a couple of hurricanes and were treated to some complimentary chips and salsa. By the way, if they decided they wanted to offer jars of that salsa to take home, I would make a counter-offer to PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY. That salsa was awesome. The cocktails were tasty and the filet bites we split had a nice kick to 'em. I supplemented that with a pair of a la carte taquitos, which were tasty provided you can get a bite of tomato, lettuce and sour cream onto the fork. Luckily for me, I'm well-practiced in fork manipulation.

Visited in June 21. Everything was of a superb quality that we had. Environment: Ambiance and size we're great. Tequila: selection seemed very good although I am no expert. The bartender was fun and knowledgeable and helped us zero in on a flight to taste. Food: I judge first on chips and salsa. EXCEPTIONAL from my stand point. A great fresh salsa and lower mid range burn. Great guacamole. Ceviche was "safe". Shrimp and scallops. I prefer a fish-especially salmon-based and some cumin. I believe this is Peruvian. Others review said it had a lot of kick. It wasn't that bad for me and I am at the mid level heat tolerance scale. Also couldn't taste that much lime. It wasn't killer. But just the same it seemed like a healthy selection. I would probably go there just for salsa and chips and guacamole and drinks and might repeat the Ceviche. We ordered tamales and chicken quesadilla to go. And even eaten under these conditions - reheated, the food was excellent. We have a lot of Mexican choices. But I'd make the drive for this place.

I really wanted to love this place-it's close to my home and the interior is super nice. I went on a Saturday and they even had live music playing a mix of salsa and soul. But the service was terrible. Drinks were good. But the wait for our food was ridiculously long after already waiting a really long time to be seated. They then gave my friend the wrong meal..twice. Food wasn't that great either.

Atmosphere was great. Food was ok. Chile Relleno seemed to have a more egg-based coating that was baked with a very mild spiced pepper rather than fried with the right spice level to it. I did enjoy the homemade chili poppers, very good. Service was very slow, especially at the bar for happy hour. We had to ask multiple times for our tabs and the bartender had very little personality when interacting with us. It was difficult catching his eye to even order drinks (we had a group of 8, we would have ordered more drinks if we could have gotten his attention more often). Our waiter was great though once we were seated at our nice table outside by the outdoor fireplace.

Im so excited! Im the first to review! well i live right around the corner and Im from San Diego so I love authentic mexican food and this place really exceeded my expectations! Decor was upscale, contemporary with an open to outdoors concept! First of all sevice was above and beyond attentive, well groomed, and friendly! Complimentary chips and salsa were super fresh and light! Our margaritas were great but way too much ice and not enough liquid in a very short glass. Ordered taquito appetizers these were the best taquitos ive ever had im having them as my entree next time There were four of us and we each ordered a large entree, they all came with rice and beans. We all tasted each others food and all of our meals were very good. All in all we had 3 premium cocktails, chips and salsa, an appetizer, and 4 entrees for $85! That is a great price! For fresh good food you cant beat it!

Solid! I was a little worried about the up-and-down reviews, but we ended up here after a stint at the Plum market. The decor is quite charming and not kitschy. There are a couple things that could be better: the draft beer selection is a little thin, although to be fair i suppose the large margarita menu makes up for that. Likewise, the starters are a little unimaginative- both the salad and the chili were kinda meh. Secondly, the house salsa is boring as all getout, and there is no hotter option. That alone had me a little worried, until the food arrived. All in all, though, this place does Mexican standards very well- fresh, flavorful, and non greasy. The prices are very reasonable, too- we fed three with alcohol and a shared dessert for under fifty bucks. The wait was a little long, giving a little too much opportunity to fill up on beer. But the food was solid- the beef chimichangas were delicious. Even the cold leftovers we ate later were tasty. My husband had the pork verde, which he enjoyed. The menu was broad, so there are many things to try, and quite a few appetizers, making this a good choice of venue if you have a crowd to feed. (They also provide several very large tables for groups) There are a few veggie options as well, including a yummy-looking potatos verde dish.

I tried out this place Friday night with my sister spur of the moment. Love the upscale Mexican venue vibe. We sat at bar and were promptly greeted and served by friendly staff (and not hard on the eyes frankly :)! We had house margaritas and split Flautas dinner for lighter bites. They also served chips and great tasting salsa for free. We enjoyed the food, drinks, and casual conversation with wait staff and other customers. Look forward to my next visit-will take my husband there for a date!

Visited here with a party of 8 on a week night. The atmosphere was out standing. They were not busy and they were well staffed. Despite this the service was poor. One of those situations where you constantly had to wave the waitress down to get another drink etc. Not at all attentive. A couple of times the wrong item was served. I've been to Mexicantown in downtown Detroit, and that's usually been the only place I go for any sort of Mexican food. I've been getting a little tired going down there for food, especially since many places have become very generic-tasting. So, it goes without saying that I was delighted to find out about this place. Margaritas are pretty good, and definitely fairly priced for the amount they give (get the 18 ouncer...worth it). The ceviche and jalapeño poppers are great choices for appetizers. The pork verde was juicy and tender. And from what others got, the fajitas for two provides plenty of food for more than 2 people. Tried the dessert Fried Ice Cream...a little bit of a disappointment. The crispy cornflake-like covering got a little soggy prior to being flash fried, so it gave a little bit of a weird consistency coating. Overall, though, i'd go back here for some good mexican food.

Pleasantly surprised after reading the mixed reviews on yelp! I ordered the Huerto Chimichanga- could you say delish?! The shredded beef inside was to die for but I didn't care much for the shredded chicken. The refried beans were flavorful but the rice was pretty bland. The guac was on point and probably my favorite part! Yummm!! The chips were thin, salted and crunchy and the salsa was good too! Only complaints are someone else's food at our table was cold. Like never heated cold. And the chili that came with my meal was extremely spicy!

Well, for so many "average" reviews, this place must be doing something right! 45 minute wait quoted for a table for 4 at 8PM. We grabbed a seat at the bar and reviewed the cocktail menu, settled on the skinny margaritas, which were good but a little pricey ($9.25 each, ouch). We were sat close to the estimated wait time, and ordered a second round of drinks and looked over the menu while enjoying the complementary chips and salsa - YUM! The chips were corn chips, freshly made, perfectly salted and the salsa was terrific! All of their mexican entrees sounded great! I don't remember ever seeing a mexican pizza on a menu before, except for taco bell. They also had a variety of salads and tacos. Was a little bummed their fish taco was fried fish, so I did not order it. I opted for the Huerto salad, both of my girlfriends got the super burritos. The salad was great! It was very fresh and the chicken was moist. It did not really need any dressing, but I did try some of the hot sauces that were on the table - beware of the green one! My mouth was on fire! The burritos were quite large and looked really good too. We had no issue with service and even had a round (or two) of shots sent over from another table ... so that always leaves a good impression :)

Overall everything was just OK. Came for lunch around 2:30 and they were not busy. I do have to say that the decor is very cool! love the lighting. The booths truthfully are kind of uncomfortable though, I would recommend sitting at a table if possible. The server was nice and attentive. We did have to ask for more coffee which was annoying considering we were one of 3 tables there but whatever. I only give this restaurant 3 stars because the food wasn't really anything special. I ordered the combo meal with 3 options and it was definitely a lot of food for relatively inexpensive. My issue was that the Mexican really didn't seem that authentic. The tortillas didn't appear to be made in house. I ordered an enchilada, the flautas, and fish tacos. My favorite was probably the fish tacos but again, nothing that I am thinking about later. Also don't order the hot tea/coffee It is Lipton and overpriced. I think I'll try it again for drinks and possibly dinner because they did have a really nice looking bar. ** not super expensive **

I've been to Huerto's a few times. It's the only real legit Mexican place in West Bloomfield and for that reason, I'm glad they're around. My experience with their food is just okay. I've gotten burritos there and feel that the tortillas are way too thick and take away from the rest of it. The chips and salsa are quality. The chili is quite tasty and spicy - it's probably my favorite thing there. I had the enchiladas last time I went and they were okay, but not really memorable. My wife got the fajitas and didn't think they were super special. The ambience at Huerto's is nice but I don't feel the food is up to speed. I'd be okay never going back and would prefer to travel the extra 10 minutes to Mex in Bloomfield.

So, I had the priveledge to try out this amazing resturant on Opening Night. The atmosphere was great and very much the type of place I like. I have a food blog so I am very much picky to certain things. I don't know if some of these people are just being negative but, I got really good service at the bar with Jeff. He was very helpful and for the reviewer who complained about no drink prices on the menu "Really that's everywhere" stop being cheap. The food was very tasty the guac app was delightful and the fish taco were amazing. I also agree they need a couple more sauces with a little more kick but that will come. This restaurant is new and very elegant. Give it a chance it is new. It's worth a visit I believe. I love jeff and his new wife and dogs and this new restaurant on the Lake, Orchard Lake that is.

Great place to go to with the wife and kids or just a bunch of guys to watch the game. Their food is great! I like the chicken flautas and the beef rancheros. The fish tacos are also a personal favorite if your looking for something small and not too filling. They have live music depending on the day. The prices are right! Nice setting. Great location. Friendly service. Just don't expect much from their food. There was four of us and the food quality ranged from bland (tacos without much flavor, salad with grilled chicken - just a bunch of greens thrown together with dry-ish chicken and some non-descript dressing) to weird. The weird part was the fajitas. It had some strange flavor in it, not quite cinnamon but similar. Something you'd expect in a cake, not in a Mexican meat dish. It was strange but still not tasty. Even the refried beans were tasteless. Now, I can see how someone going there for a few drinks would like the place. But as a place to eat, especially the Mexican food, it falls short.

My wife and I finally returned after our last visit during their first week in business. I had steak fajitas and my wife had chicken fajitas. Both were delicious with ample servings. Our waitress was wonderful and kept the chips and salsa coming. She was attentive and knew the menu well. My only regret was I don't remember her name and wish I could give her a callout to give her credit for a good job. Bottom line is this was a very pleasant experience. Good food, good service and the decor was pleasant. We will definitely come back and recommend the restaurant.

Went here on a Thursday evening around 7. LOVE the openess of the rooms (every servers dream). For drinks my fella and I ordered huerto hurricanes. They have a nice dark rum float on top which gives you a pleasant shocked. For our second drinks, I got a mimosa and he got the purple rain. The mimosa was good (as mimosas generally are) and the purple rain was waaaay to sweet for me personally. Honestly, I probably should have tried one of their margaritas or other signature tequila drinks but tequila turns me into a "woo girl. " As far as food goes, we aplit the filet bites, dude had taquitos, I had a cup of the chicken and rice soup and a regular chicken burrito with a side of guacamole. The filet bites are probably the best thing I have put in my mouth in a long time! Seriously, I could have died after eating those and been totally content. The chicken and rice soup had cheese in it (which I was not expecting) but still exceptional. The broth was very flavorful, the veggies were the perfect inbetween of hard/soft and the shredded chicken was delightful. The chicken burrito was good, a bit plain (just cheese and chicken ) but that was my own doing. I should have ordered the super(Doh! ) . I added guacamole and chalula and I was awesome. My boyfriend had the taquitos which he was very pleased with. Oh and I am forgetting to mention how great the chips and salsa were. My boyfriend said that he could just drink the salsa and be happy. Also, the array of hot sauces on the table is always great. I think there were 5 or 6. Our server's name was Gabrielle and she was really great and helpful. She was able to answer questions we had and was really nice. Based off this first experience at huerto, I would come back everyday if I could but I live in Cleveland. Alas, I will just have to wait impatiently until my next trip.

Went for lunch with my daughter and had the most amazing taco salad at a special luncheon price of just $7.Loved having the choice of luncheon specials for the price and portions. The presentation was superb and the veggies so fresh as well as beautiful. This is NO Taco Bell salad. No Taco Bell either. High end food & atmosphere, but not expensive. Nice avacado and red & green peppers as well as great white Mexican cheese. Just the right size for lunch and there was a choice of shredded chicken or beef. Tasty. My daughter had a combo taco and an enchilada for $9 with rice & beans. Great decor, dine alfresco if you like in good weather. Surely will be back.

Short story: Great fresh food, not greasy. Long story: Finally was able to get in this place. Great vibe. There was a 25min wait so we grabbed a margarita while we waited - very good: not too sour, generous tequila pour. The chips are hot and very thin - my favorite kind! Salsa was good - not the best I've ever had but it was good. Jalapeño poppers were out of this world (well at least the 2nd round was ~ the first batch they brought out were still frozen in the center). Ordered the shrimp fajitas for dinner - very good. The tortillas tasted homemade and the fillings were all VERY fresh. Husband loved his tacos - he got a sampler, he especially liked the one with pineapple and steak. My mom ordered the taco salad, it was huge and the ingredients were very fresh - excellent she said. I strongly recommend this place. It's not the best Mexican I've ever had - but for the immediate area it's the best available, hands down.

Not what we expected, but we'll be back. Cozy, 'Mexican living room' style ambiance on the other side of the wall from the bar. (Which, btw, is a nice barrier if you're not into the bar scene or just prefer a quieter dinner scene.) Generous portions. Food is flavorful. Chili is nice and spicy. Fish tacos were very good - we ordered one grilled. Cat, our server, was just that - a servant... With a genuine smile and a good attitude. She left a great impression on all of us. We'll be back to explore some more food items on the menu.

I have tried Huerto a few times since they opened--hard to beat Mexican food close to my house. The decor is beautiful. The patio outside looks amazing, and the restaurant itself looks great. The menu has a wide variety and lots of drink specials. In short, I really wanted to love this place, and I tried really hard! Every time we have been there, something has gone wrong with the food. It was either cold, over-cooked, had the wrong ingredients, or took forever to appear at our table. The staff is friendly and always happy to fix any errors, but the errors happen a bit too frequently for my liking! I will probably give them another try, but there are too many restaurants at 15 and Orchard to spend time and money somewhere that isn't stellar.

Highlights for me are the fish tacos, fajitas, buffalo shrimp tacos and chimichangas. The sopapillas are a favorite too. The service is excellent, and you see the owners in the restaurant all the time, which explains the consistent quality. Definitely give this place a try!

Decided on Huerto for dinner with a friend. I love Mexican Food and am always looking for a great Mexican place. Since moving to Michigan from Chicago, authentic Mexican food had been hard to find. We got there around 7:00 and were seated fairly quick. The waiter was super nice and he was very attentive. We ordered the guacamole appetizer and it was great. They have really good thin style tortilla chips. I was a bit disappointed by the salsa. It was more like tomato sauce then salsa! Both my girlfriend and I had the single item combo. It was a good deal of food and very reasonable priced. She had the beef tostada and I had the fish taco. They both came with rice and beans and a salad. My taco was fabulous! I only ate the rice, since the beans had cheese on them and I don't eat dairy. It was good, but a bit dry. The salads were nice too. More then a typical garden salad as it came with a ton of garbanzo beans and olives. Overall, the food was good and I would make another trip back!

Hola, Amigos! This is the new place to see and be seen in West Bloomfield! 8 of my college frat brothers and I took on Huerto's last week, and Huerto's won! Between the 9 of us, we sampled 9 different entrees and combos! Everyone from the most easy-going to the grouchiest among us agreed that their food was A) Hot (temp); B) Delicious; and C) Plenty to eat! Our individual choices ranged from Chicken Fajitas, to Buffalo Shrimp Tacos, to Mexican Pizza, to Huerto Chimichanga with beef, chicken and re-fried rice wrapped in a flour tortilla, to Flautas, the Carne Asa Burrito Platter and more. Personally, i chose the Rib dinner, which was very meaty, tender and plenty to eat in a half-slab. My only criticism was a little too much BBQ sauce. Pricing was reasonable and the atmosphere is very Mexican. ALMOST like being there! Only downside was slow service for a Monday evening, but they are new and should get up to speed soon, according to our charming hostess. Definitely worth a try for Mexican food lovers and likers!

We have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant near our house forever. The search continues... I wanted to like this place. I really really wanted to love this place. We ordered a burrito, tostado and a tamale. The food was bland and not very authentic. I was shocked. The tostado from Taco Bell has more flavor. The decor was awesome and we really enjoyed being outside with the fireplace. Maybe we will be back for drinks only!

4 stars only for the snooty bar service.. they all seem to dislike one another.. nice 2 man band on the weekends.. really yummy margaritas.. all food we've had has been fresh and good quality. Nice date place. They have a huge patio area if you're looking for summer outdoor seating.

I have to say, I love this place! I have been here quite a few times and it never disappoints. I love love love the floutas and mozzarella sticks. I'll admit at first I didn't think the staff was that nice but I realized it was just new and super busy. Because the manager of the place.. Female... Glasses.. She blew me away. She thanked me for coming in and being a loyal customer. She introduced me to the owner who was such a nice man. They both were very sweet and I am sucker for customer service. The food is so good, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is relax and fun. A very nice addition to the West Bloomfield community.

My tip says it all but I wanted to affect the overall rating so I'm posting this. Yuck. Clubby vibe inside and total lack of authenticity. Would do well in royal oak. Seems like all the thought went into decor and none into a chef.

Was here tonight with some friends, ordered the Huerto margarita and it was excellent. Bar was a little slow but the drink was well worth it. Ordered the Los Cabos w/steak it was excellent. Wife ordered the buffalo shrimp, they were huge and delicious. All my friends loves the food will definitely be back.

Simply put AWESOME! My Fiance and went for my Birthday just looking for somewhere different and new where we had not been before. Carne Asada burrito was great! Shrimp fajitas Great! Huerto margaritas, Great! Sat on the patio and enjoyed the experience. Definitely recommend. No reason for long drawn out review. Just try the place, well worth it! We will be back.

Me and my partner went on a Friday night for a date. The entry is a little packed and when the two benches were full with waiting guests we weren't really sure where to stand. The hostess stand sits to the left when you enter but people are coming and going from all directions. We were seated quickly. The service was okay but the food wasn't that great. We ordered the fajitas for two chicken, steak and shrimp. it was average. Nothing special The meat wasn't seasoned. The beans and rice were run of the mill. All in all there was nothing that was GREAT to come back for. The decor was nice and the fact that they have live music is a plus. The food just wasn't that good.

My wife and I dined here last Friday night. It was a good thing we made reservations, as the lobby was filled with diners waiting for a table. We were soon sat at a table and promptly greeted by our waiter. My wife ordered the sangria and when I sampled it, it was quite delicious. I was a bit thrown off though, because it didn't have any fruit in it. We were served chips and salsa to start, and we found the salsa a bit more medium on the spice level and chips seemed fresh and crunchy. We ordered guacamole and it was probably the most memorable of all the things we ate that evening. I had the mexican chili as an appetizer and I found it enjoyable. Nice level of spice with the normal familiarity of beans and meat. I would have liked to see a small dollup of sour cream on top and cilantro to really set that dish off. My wife had a side salad with her meal and was really disappointed. We both agreed it looked like they had opened a bag of chopped iceburg lettuce mix from the grocery store and then added onions, olives,and garbanzo beans. There was a slight issue I had with the bartending staff when trying to get change for the valet. I must of stood near the bar for 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the bartender or nearby managers. A simple gesture like eye contact and a head nod, or 'I'll be right with you' would be all that I required. I finally had to stand directly in front of the cash register to get some attention. Now mind you I'm 6'4" and pretty hard to miss. My advice to the bartending staff, is don't forget to look up and address the patrons waiting for service because not everyone has my patience. One of the managers was at the bar area this whole time mind you, not paying any attention and was more interested in chatting with diners at the bar. In closing, I would come here again if friends wanted to try it, but I wouldn't seek this place out if I was in the mood for Mexican food.

Get the Huerto Margarita!!!! It is super strong and delicious. It's made to order with all natural ingredients instead of those awful sugary mixers. I had a Mexican pizza and it was large. The portions are pretty big and large enough to split for sure!

I would review the food but can't because nobody ever came to serve us. For a Tuesday when it wasn't even busy there's just no excuse. Ended up walking out after sitting in the booth for 20 minuteswith no contact or even water.

This place just opened so a few of the points made in the negative reviews are probably legitimate but typical of a new restaurant still smoothing out the wrinkles. That said, our lunch there was really good. The fajitas for two with shrimp chicken and steak were outstanding and reasonably priced at $20. The waiter told us everything was marinated overnight and it showed. Steak was extremely tender (none of the fat or gristle you sometimes find in fajita steak). The shrimp flavor was incredible - I would eat the shrimp by itself as a meal. My wife loved her soup and she rarely eats soup. The beans and other side items were all top notch. Especially liked the jalapeño peppers served on the side...nice touch! It's worth noting that the atmosphere is awesome - way better than just about any other Mexican place around. Lots of tv's, cool bar, open and airy with lots of light. The buildout had to cost a fortune! Overall I would say this place is a strong 4 stars and will likely be worthy of 5 once they get the opening kinks worked out.

My advice if you decide to head here: 1) Sit at the bar. You are far better off going to the bar and going to the server than waiting for one to come to you. The service is not good. 2) Order a beer. The beers are cold and the choices are sufficient. The mixed drinks are too syrupy, icy, and not enough alcohol. 3) Order guacamole for the chips. The guacamole is awesome. 4) Enjoy the guacamole, the chils and the beer...and stop there. The rest of the food isn't very good. I think I make the same rice in the 60 second Uncle Bens bags in my microwave and the refried beans taste like the canned stuff I microwave out of a can at home. 5) Great place for beer, some chips, and to watch a game as they have great television. Otherwise, not very good and I wouldn't go back. I've lived in the immediate area for greater than 30 years and this place is likely headed in the same direction of every other restaurant that has occupied that building and will be out of business in 2-3 years. Sorry.

Service was great! Our server Maya was attentive and friendly. Although everything wasn't totally "authentic Mexican" (let's be honest, that's impossible to find outside of of Mexicantown Detroit), it was flavorful! Totally satisfied our cravings. The margaritas hit the spot. We did the Huerto because it's the most natural one, along with the Traveler and Spiced Agave. The chips are salsa were ok (not homemade but good). The cheviche was FRESH, spicy, and tasty - a great pick! Sometimes it can be hit or miss. This may have been one of the best I've had. We ordered some enchiladas and burritos from the ala carte menu - all great flavors and exactly what I expected. Finally, we ended with sopapilas. They were perfectly prepared and plenty for the two of us. Great date night and happy we came!

Absolutely terrible expeirence, busboys outshined managemnet. Food was terrible, asked to see a manager, who cane out an absolute incompetent, jerk. The busboy saw this and tried fixing the situation. We only saw our server once the whole visit, and food came out cold all three, YES THREE, times. STAY AWAY & FIRE EDUARDO.
